Hirst casting

TERRAIN ART

Building Scenery Using Hirst Arts Molds:

This hands-on seminar, taught by NOVA Open director,
Tim Stone, teaches attendees to build fantastic looking terrain using components cast from Hirst Arts molds.  This class will teach you the process for conducting proper casting, the advantages and disadvantages of different mediums (plaster, dental stone, resin), and the best adhesives to use. During the hands-on portion of the class attendees will cast their own components from the provided molds and will build terrain they can take home.

Tectonic Craft Seminar

Dan Cotrupe of Tectonic Craft Studios, walks participants through hands-on assembly and customization of highly-detailed laser etched wood terrain.  Participants then join Dan in painting their terrain piece efficiently using acrylic craft paints, and high-quality sable brushes.  The results are a table-top ready, one-of-a-kind take-home piece of NOVA Open Steampunk Terrain suitable for your battlefield!  The cost of the seminar includes a Tectonic Craft Studios small Victorian Ruin kit.  Upgraded terrain will be available to class participants at a discount.  Participants are encouraged to bring their spare parts bin, to add faction or army specific bits to their terrain piece.

Jawaballs

Or just bring your army and get honest and constructive input from Jawaballs on improving your work. Attendees of either Jawaballs seminar get special prices on the new The Jawaballs Way: How to Paint Wargame Miniatures instructional DVDs.

MORE HOBBY ART!

The following seminars are offered by talented painting and hobby instructor, Caleb Wissenback. These are hands-on classes with GW-supplied models- students are encouraged to bring their favorite paints and brushes but are not required.

This course focuses on the basics of painting. We start off with basic cleaning and priming of a model. Then we will discuss and practice the proper use of a variety of painting products to bring a mini to a tabletop level of painting.

This course will focus on bringing your army painting skills up to maximize your tournament paint scores. We will discuss the standard painting scoring systems. Then we will have hands-on demo and practice of techniques and skills with a few time saving cheats added in to achieve a better paint score.

This course will help students to become familiar with the different Blending techniques currently being used by top painters such as Wet blending, Spit blending, 2 brush, and glazing.
