 We have an exciting announcement for next year- the 2014 NOVA Open will be held ENTIRELY UNDERWATER! That's right, next year you'll be able to play your favorite tabletop games in the world's first SCUBA-style tournaments! Be among the lucky first to pioneer this groundbreaking new gaming format!
The event will be hosted in several of Northern Virginia's municipal swimming pools. Enjoy the summer sun poolside between rounds! Don't know how to SCUBA? Don't worry! Weekend badges include free beginner lessons, and our safety staff and lifeguards will be on hand 24/7 for all events.

 Due to high demand, we're proud to announce a new event at the NOVA Open this year- Mechanical Bullriding! The bull will be available for free ride periods after-hours, but the real show will be the three-day tournament, featuring a whole slew of prizes! Several notable gamers have already received invitational slots directly to the championship rounds, but we're looking to increase the competition, so saddle up and register now!

NOVA OPEN STYLE 40K IN SPACE: ISS BATREP
 NOVA Open-style 40k has been gaining in popularity internationally, and we now have a new foothold in that final frontier- space! The latest crew arriving at the International Space Station includes some 40k fanatics, and we're proud to have an exclusive battle report interview with Commander Neil Shepard on the station's first battle. NOVA OPEN LEADERSHIP CHANGE: NEW CEO
 Following former NOVA Open CEO Mike Brandt's cabinet appointment to U.S. Undersecretary of Gaming- Tabletop, the Board of Directors is now happy to confirm the selection committee's choice of Kota as Mike's successor. As former NOVA Open mascot, Kota brings years of experience to the table, and the Board is fully confident that given enough leash, Kota will take the NOVA Open in exciting new directions. Watch this space for more updates.

Last year's terrain building push saw the NOVA Open reach 40k terrain self-sufficiency. Help us this year with our goals for Infinity self-sufficiency and to round out our 40k sets.  SOCIAL EVENTS
NOVA Open staff come together in a variety of ways outside the confines of working toward improving and creating the convention.
 TERRAIN BUILDS
Our mission includes being self-sufficient with boards and terrain in all of our tabletop wargaming events. Build days are a great learning experience, include a ton of food and camaraderie.
 MAKING VIDEOS
The staff has a great time under the direction of Jon Pryts when it's time to make a movie. Jon and Ethan have plans in the chute for a few more videos in the coming months.
ONSITE STAFF SUPPORT 
For those non-locals who are only going to be in a position to help out onsite at the NOVA Open, we have a job for you! We start on Wednesday, 8/28/13 with load-in at the Hyatt. The rest of Day 1 is spent unpacking, setting up desks, rooms, and gaming tables. We also need judges, as well as registration and store support.
