5280 Releases 25 Best Restaurants of 2012!

Best places to eat in Denver and Boulder. From northern Italian sophistication to authentic street tacos - and just about everything in between, these restaurants are the very best of the Front Range dinning scene.

No. 1: Frasca Food and Wine (2nd year in a row at the #1 position) - but I had never heard of it. Frasca Food and Wine is a neighborhood restaurant in Boulder, Colorado inspired by the cuisine and culture of Friuli, Italy. 1738 Pearl St., Boulder, 303-442-6966 frascafoodandwine.com

No. 2: Sushi Den
(Up 2 spots from 2011). This is always a staple among dinner with friends. Each week Sushi Den serves 2,000 pounds of seafood that taste as if it's just been fished from the ocean. 1487 S. Pearl St., 303-777-0826,  sushiden.net
No. 3: ChoLon Modern Asian Bistro (up 2 spots from 2011). I LOVE this place - by reading the menu I dont have a clue what the food is...but I promise it wont let you down. The contemporary southeast Asian menu often reads simply-pork ribs with smoked tamarind barbecue sauce and green papaya salad, or asparagus and mushroom salad with soy-truffle vinaigrette-but simple it is not. 1555 Blake St., Suite 101, 303-353-5223,  cholon.com

No. 4: Luca d'Italia (up 2 spots from 2011). Luca D'Italia represents the realization of deep Italian culture and heritage in Denver. The richness of Italian food experience speaks for itself. 711 Grant St., 303-832-6600,  lucadenver.com

No. 5: Fruition Restaurant (falls 3 spots from 2011). Be sure to make reservations as the 50 seats available go quickly! Dishes here are seasonal, sophisticated, innovative, and special. 1313 E. Sixth Ave., 303-831-1962,  fruitionrestaurant.com
