From the GEDâ Testing Service

-- The GEDâ Testing Service has developed an eight week program to help adult educators become better acquainted with the 2014 GEDâ test. It is located at http://www.gedtestingservice.com/educators/2014-guide.

-- The GEDâ Testing Service announced earlier this year that corrections institutions that are unable to implement CBT on Jan 1 2014 can request a waiver to continue to deliver the 2002 Series GED test on paper until a time when they can make the requisite changes. About 25 states have requested a waiver for some or all of their facilities.

-- The GEDâ Testing Service announced the publication of the 2012 Annual Statistical Report on the GED® Test, the sole source of worldwide data on the GED® testing program. You may access the report on the home page of our website at www.GEDtestingservice.com/educators.

Some highlights from the report include:

  • More than 702,000 adults worldwide took at least one of the five GED® test content areas
  • Approximately 607,000 individuals completed their GED® test in 2012
  • Almost 418,000 test takers met the passing standard on the test by earning scores equal to or higher than the top 60% of graduating high school seniors

"The program does not require much supervision and allows the student to navigate and move at their own learning pace. One major advantage this particular software has over other programs currently in use is that it is much more than just testing software, but includes actual lessons and gives hints on how to solve the problems. By using this more entertaining form of software, students will better focus on the material, leading to better retention and improved grades."
