New TAB President
We are pleased to announce that Andrew Burgess is the new President of the Tauber Alumni Board.  Andrew graduated from U-M in 2011 with an MBA and a Masters of Engineering.

Originally from New Zealand, Andrew now
lives with his wife and 2 young kids in the Seattle area, where he is a senior manager of Business Intelligence and Analytics at The Boeing Company.

Andrew is an outdoor enthusiast with a passion for mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, and travel.  He has just one continent left to check off on his global exploration list!  Who's up for an alumni reunion in Antarctica?

Since 2008, Tauber
Institute programs have grown by over 50%, increasing the need for student support.

Looking good, guys!  View more photos of Tauber Teams in action, SPOTLIGHT!, Pit Crew Challenge, and other Tauber events on our flickr page.

Keep connected with your fellow alums!
Update your info and share your latest adventures on the Tauber website.

The Tauber Institute welcomes Amitabh Sinha as our new Ford Motor Company Business Co-Director.  Sinha is an Associate Professor of Technology and Operations at the Ross School of Business.

Professor Sinha has advised students working on Tauber Team Projects for the past decade, and he recently developed a new lab-style class on Big Data for the MBA program.  Sinha succeeds Izak Duenyas, who begins a new role as Faculty Director of the Executive MBA program.
Each year Tauber makes a big impact on global operations through team projects, but a one day consultation for a local nonprofit can be equally powerful.  And a seemingly small action - like asking Whirlpool to donate a washing machine - can make a huge difference.

Find out how this Community Service Day team helped bring smiles to thousands of children facing life-threatening illnesses.

In their 2013 Tauber Team Project, Simon Bank (MSE-IOE '14) and Ben Brelje (BSE/MSE-AE '14) recommended automation for Boeing Salt Lake's paint facility as the most efficient way to increase capacity.  But in addition to demonstrating production gains, Simon and Ben highlighted the worker safety and the environmental benefits of their plan.

Two Tauber students took home alumni scholarships from SPOTLIGHT! this year: Allison Holmgren (MBA '16) and Melissa Sweeney (BSE/MSE-IOE '16), who was featured in February's Alumni News.

Originally from California, Allison has been thrilled by the spirit of Michigan, as well as the leadership, travel, and diversity she has experienced at Ross and the Tauber Institute.

Learn why Allison loves Operations, and find out why this leader at the Ross School of Business was worried that she wouldn't get in.
Tauber Alumni Sightings!
Tauber Faculty and Staff love to hear about what our alums are doing - and it's even better to see you in person!  Managing Director Diana Crossley shares news from some of the alumni she's seen in Ann Arbor:

Divya Parambi (Dual MBA/MEng '11) was in town twice recently - once for
Sarah Poglits' (MBA '11) wedding and once for the Michigan-Northwestern game. After working in Operations H.R. at General Mills for two years, Divya is currently enjoying her position as a Sr. Consultant and Business Development Manager at PacWest Consulting Partners (a boutique strategy consultancy and market intelligence firm that specializes in the energy, industrial, and resources sectors) in Houston.

Walking my dog, also I ran into Jim Beaver (MSCM '12) tailgating before the Michigan-Northwestern game.  Jim's doing well as a Commodity Sourcing Manager at Parker Hannifin in Kalamazoo, MI.

A contingent from Dell arrived on campus recently consisting of Tauber alumni
Piyush Bhargava (MBA '99), Bryce Stacer (EGL '99) and Rob Dirkson (MBA '14). Piyush, who is the Executive Director, Enterprise Procurement & Packaging at Dell, graciously gave a Tauber Leadership Speaker Series (TLSS) talk as well as hosting office hours while in town. Bryce, who is a Senior Manager of Supply Chain Planning, also made time to hang out on North Campus in the EGL Honors Office. Rob, who is a Demand Supply Senior Advisor was also helping out in recruiting UM students. Coincidentally,
Megh Mandanna (MSCM '14), Global Commodity Manager at Dell came by to say 'hi' the previous week while he was in town recruiting for Dell as well.

Mike Petersen (MBA '99) stopped by with his son, Nicholas, who was born during his second year in the Tauber program. Nicholas will be a junior in high school this year and he has a genuine interest in Michigan and Ross.  Mike and his son toured campus and took in the Michigan-Michigan State game.

I also ran into Matt Schnugg (MBA '11), Group Program Manager, Cloud + Enterprise Data Analysis & Operations at Microsoft, twice in the last two months. Matt participated in a Strategy panel at MBA Orientation and then was recruiting for Microsoft in October. Matt swears that one of these days both he and his wife, Filiz Genca (MBA '11), who is a Manager at Amazon, will actually be in Ann Arbor together!

Tauber Institute Associate Director Jon Grice enjoyed seeing Chris Stevens (EGL '14) when Chris hosted open office hours for Tauber students to discuss professional opportunities at Cisco.  Chris also attended the 2015 SPOTLIGHT! event to support the Tauber Cisco team.

MSCM Program Managing Director Eric Olson and Marketing Director Theresa Ceccarelli enjoyed catching up with Eric Peltz (MBA/MS-IOE '95) at the CSCMP Conference in San Diego. Eric is the Member at Large Chair for the 2015-16 Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Board of Directors.  Manu Bhalla also stopped by the Tauber Institute booth to say how proud he is for his son, Arjun Bhalla (EGL '15), who is now working in Chicago for A.T. Kearney.

Former Tauber Alumni Board President Kristin Smith (EGL '98) also has a great new job.  Congratulations to Kristin on becoming the Chief Operations Officer of Dolly, a peer-to-peer mobile app engineered to eliminate the stress of moving, hauling and delivering.  Kristin will be responsible for streamlining Dolly's operations and logistics for Chicago and Seattle as well as planning for expansion into additional markets.

At Tauber, we are proud our alums can go the distance - but Geoff Burns (EGL '13) is taking that literally!  Geoff began running ultramarathons this year, has earned a spot on the U.S. 50K World Championship team, and will compete for Team USA in Qatar this December.  We'll be cheering for you, Geoff.

Go Geoff!  Go Blue!
