The Tauber Institute for Global Operations is pleased to announce Dr. R. Eugene Goodson as its new Executive-in-Residence. Tauber Institute Engineering Co-Director, Professor

Larry Seiford, has been acknowledged with the Holzman Award, one of the highest honors bestowed by Institute of Industrial Engineers (IIE) to a recipient whose contributions are of the highest caliber and nationally or internationally recognized. Read more. 

  

The Tauber Institute also congratulates the following faculty co-advisors on their recent awards:

  

IOE Professor and Chair, Mark Daskin, is the 2014 recipient of the David F. Baker Distinguished Researcher Award from IIE. Read more.

  

Professor Xiuli Chao has been elected as a Fellow of the Institute of Industrial Engineers. Read more.
 
Professor Wally Hopp, senior associate dean for faculty and research, Herrick Professor of Business, professor of technology and operations at the Ross School of Business, and professor of industrial and operations engineering, was recently elected to the National Academy of Engineering. Ross Business School Teaching Excellence Awards were also presented to the following Tauber faculty co-advisors during 2014 Commencement ceremonies:

It was standing room only at the largest industrial and systems engineering event of the year!

The conference was held in the Palais des Congres de Montreal in Canada on May 31 - June 3, 2014.

The Tauber Institute's annual Community Service Day is a volunteer collaboration between Tauber Institute students and Industry Advisory Board members to help organizations with their operational problems in the tri-county area of southeastern Michigan. 
 
This was the third year Tauber students organized this effort. Past sponsoring companies have included the Humane Society of Huron Valley, Ann Arbor Recycling Center, National Center for Manufacturing Sciences, Superior Cam (Madison Heights), and Transportation Riders United (Detroit).   View Photos Here.

Sang Kim, MBA '96, holds two unique distinctions among University of Michigan grads -   

 

He was the first Tauber graduate hired at Boeing and the first Ross School of Business MBA to go to work at Amazon.  

 

While he's pretty proud of both, his current career is quite a departure from his megacorp days.

Then take in the game as Coach Brady Hoke leads the University of Michigan football team against Miami (Ohio) on September 13 (noon). The Michigan Marching Band halftime performance will include 500 singers as we celebrate the National Anthem's Bicentennial!
