Commodore's Corner It was a great Saturday evening at the club this past weekend. Casino night was a success. Our many thanks go to Lisa Clements and her team for a creating wonderful time by all those who attended. All of the volunteers are mentioned in Lisa wrap up elsewhere in the Yardarm. I just want to express the board and bridge's appreciation for a great effort. For you that are new members, this event is one of our significant fundraisers. This year's effort exceeded, significantly, last year's event and also exceed efforts over each of the past three years. So congratulations are in order.
It looks like Easter Brunch is coming together very nicely. Several Volunteer Chefs have stepped forward to make this a celebrating event. Please join us Sunday morning from 10 AM to 1 PM in the afternoon and see what surprises we have cooked up. The menu is complete and we are looking for reservations from our members and families.
One last note, rumor has that Karaoke has been rescheduled for this Saturday March 30th. Betty Gill tells me that it will be a Pot Luck, so bring your offering and join the group for food and singing.

Casino Night!
I want to thank all the sponsors and volunteers who participated in making the 2013 Casino Night a great success and fun evening. Please give these table sponsors, dealers, food preparers, committee members and other volunteers a big pat on the back when you see them. Without their tremendous support and effort the night would not have been such fun and great success: Mark Clements, Marie Conriquez, Wesley Davis, Dennis Frost, Donna Hynes, Steve Julien, Tom and Amber Kemp, Kathy King and her sister Lori, Mike and Mary Kirchgestner, Tom and Barbara Kirwan, Ron Laviolette and Tina, Q McClintock and Daniel, Terry Moran, Liz and Gary Piazzoni, Joan Schauwecker, Betsy and Bryan Shirk, Marla Slattery, Colin Smith, Pat and Bill Upton, Lou Ann Vogler, Linda Whipple, Michele and Dick Wold.
We were pleased to host many folks from the Altrusa group and Polaris Sailing as well as some members of other local yacht clubs. I hope you had a chance to say hello to these visitors.
We look forward to hosting this event next year and hope those of you who were not able to attend this year will look forward to joining the fun next year.

Sail Committee
First, as Casino Night Pit Boss, I want to thank Lounge Pit Boss Lou Ann and all of the dealers, old and new. All of the tables had a good time and the cash up process and table shut down was the smoothest I can remember. Thank you all for a job well done.
I was asked to review the 'Find Your Way Around The Bay' thing.
'Find Your Way Around The Bay' started when some of our racers couldn't find the Pursuit Course marks so we decided to just drive around the courses to see how they work. It is not a race. The goal is to just drive slowly around the course to get your bearings, literally, and finding your way from mark to mark until you get back home.
The way it will work is participants, sail, power and kayaks, meet at Chula Vista Yacht Club at 11:00 AM April 6, review the course, get a start time and set out at 12:00 Noon at 30 second intervals at speeds not to exceed 6 knots and or separation of not less than 100 yards to navigate a predetermined course. An entry fee of $10 get two tickes to a party afterward. Entry forms and more details are in the Notice of Event on our web page. Click here for Notice of Event All the rules, what there is of them, can be found in the Sailing Instructions along with the details of the course. Click here for Sailing Instructions We even have a cool flyer you can download, print, share or send along. Click here for Flyer
Don't forget, next Tuesday, April 2 in Sail Fleet meeting 1830 (6:30 PM) at Chula Vista Yacht Club. You don't have to own a boat because your membership card is your invitation.
Thank you,
Sail Fleet
