Ballston (VA) Innovation Initiative (BI2) Combines Entrepreneurs, Government, Education, and National Security Technology

The Ballston Innovation Initiative (BI2 - "Be-Eye-Squared") (www.ballstoni2.com) is a three (3) month program intended to enhance the greater Washington, DC area's unique combination of entrepreneurs, technology, government agencies, university researchers and students and the general business community. The initiative is being spearheaded by Amplifier Ventures (www.amplifierventures.com) and Arlington County, Virginia (www.arlingtonvirginiausa.com).

Mr. Aberman formed Amplifier Ventures in 2005 and his substantial venture capital, financial and managerial experience also includes a background in law and investment banking. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at the University of Maryland´s Robert H. Smith School of Business, and is also a regular speaker on topics related to business formation and expansion for groups such as the National Academies of Science, the National Science Foundation, and the Northern Virginia Technology Council. Ms. Ives brings to her job over 15 years of leadership experience assisting communities with the creation of economic development strategies, policy initiatives, and program implementation to support sustainable economies. She is a member of International Economic Development Council (IEDC), NAIOP, CoreNet Global, and Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC).

Joshua I. Smith, Chairman and Managing Partner of The Coaching Group, LLC, is Host of Biz Talk With Josh.
