NEW DAY AND TIME
SUNDAYS AT 11:00 am EST
Biz Talk With Josh Smith
Educational Entrepreneurship
Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 11:00 am EST
According to the director of the Columbia University National Center for the Study of Privatization in Education, "Much of the recent literature on improving education in the United States seeks to promote entrepreneurship as the solution to raising educational quality and equity." The rise of charter schools as alternatives to public schools in many cities, and programs like Rice University's Education Entrepreneurship Program - whose motto is "We educate leaders to run schools as CEOs" have impacted the way teachers, students, parents, and education administrators perceive and practice their pursuits.
Here at Biz Talk With Josh Smith, we are constantly looking for entrepreneurial topics to share with you, our listeners, and when this new approach to education utilizing technology developed by entrepreneurs presented itself to us, we did not hesitate to arrange this week's broadcast. We are excited to present one innovative example of how two entrepreneurs are blazing trails in educational entrepreneurship with our audience on this Sunday's broadcast of Biz Talk With Josh Smith.
Please listen in at 11:00 am EST when Josh interviews Mr. Granville Templeton, III, CEO, and Mr. Alexis Coates, CFO, the minds behind 1sqbox, LLC. 1sqbox sells Android-based tablets to school systems for grades K-12. The tablets have proprietary software geared for administrators, teachers and students.
Mr. Templeton and Mr. Coates have utilized their entrepreneurial skills to develop something that, according to them, "serves as the first intuitive classroom and administrative management tool that streamlines the information exchange among participants in the educational process."
