A Tale From the Tour Against Trafficking
|
A Tale of the Tour Ellen Meyer, Administrator
My tale of the Tour is quite different than the tale Wil Colon wrote of being on the road with the core riding team. I did not ride with the tour throughout the Central Valley. I rode the tour in my desk chair that swivels. I was swiveling throughout the tour fielding calls, emails, tracking donations and in house promoting of your events and the Tour via the Friday Reflection since the Against Human Trafficking Events and the Tour Against Trafficking all started in April.
In the beginning many phone calls came from all over the diocese with questions about how to put on the Against Human Trafficking Events. Great questions came in and a sincere desire to do the job, but underneath I could tell many were wondering if their event could really be pulled together and also would anyone really come?
My tale of the Tour is not really about what I did, it is about what I saw YOU do. You pulled it off and people did come. All over the diocese we had support from local and county agencies, community leaders and even state leaders. Parishes joined together within our diocese and with other faith based organizations to host the events. Information coming from you to the Diocesan Office about your plans was swiveled on to other parishes to assist them.
Your press announcements, flyers and posters for your events were fantastic! Your reach to the press was well done and newspapers announcing and reporting on your events was so good to see.
Your creativity and hard work played on through the Tour with your hospitality. I heard great things from the Core Tour Group about the wonderful time they had with all of you. It was again great to hear, read and see on television about the Tour coming to your communities. Those who volunteered to ride from all over were inspirational!
I am thankful that we educated ourselves and others of this horrific crime. We have helped support groups in our region that have been working on Human Trafficking for some time. Adding our voice to this cause gave them support and strength to keep on doing the work they feel Called to be... The Diocesan Staff is awed by the support you gave to this local, national and worldwide crisis that is Human Trafficking. This is one of the many ways we are Called to be...
This was huge people! Ride on!
Thank you. Well done.
Note: St. Clare's Against Human Trafficking event is coming up in December. They have joined with three other faiths to host an event in Murphy's. Well done again. |
