From Bishop David
In the recent Journal for Virginia Theological Seminary, Summer 2015 (I believe there is an online copy available on their website) there was an article entitled: Theological Reflections on the Human Trafficking Crisis.
The preface of the article reads:
"During a January Term 2015 Immersion Course, led by Professor Mitzi Budde and Katherine Grieb as a pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi, members of the course spent two weeks studying early Christian historical sites and engaging in ecumenical conversations during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity. An important part of the course was a conversation on biblical theology and human trafficking with Archbishop David Moxon, director of the Anglican Centre in Rome, and the Archbishop of Canterbury's Personal Representative to the Holy See." (What a cool post eh, my words, not a part of the article, I couldn't help myself). Read more...

Sisters and Brothers,
I hope you have noticed we have a new diocesan website. It is clean, it is lean, and it is well, perhaps not mean, but extremely groovy. My personal thanks to all those involved in making this site happen. It is a site that I will gladly share with anyone. Please enjoy!

The Courage to Follow
One definition of courage is the quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty, danger or pain. An example that was used was "to have the courage of one's convictions, as to act in accordance with one's belief."
How do you help children have the courage of their beliefs so they can begin to live out their developing faith? Of course, as grown-ups, we know we are called to support and nurture all children in our community. It is the vow we take as a community at every baptism when asked, "Will you who witness these vows do all in your power to support these persons in theirlife in Christ?" And with one voice we respond, "We will."
So when a bunch of retired teachers are standing around after services one Sunday and one of them says, "What about Vacation Bible School?" what do you think the answer is going to be? Read more...

An invitation to join EfM-Education for Ministry!
What is EfM?
It is a seminar group that meets once a month over the course of nine months. Participants are given assignments to study with the help of resource guides and reading texts. Reading texts offer perspectives on the entire sweep of the Christian tradition from the earliest period to the present: biblical exegesis and interpretation, theology, church history, ethics, worship, spirituality, and interfaith encounter. Interlude texts offer additional voices that focus on specific themes. Read more...
