HELP US REACH OUR $50,000 GOAL
|
We are SO close to our goal of $50,000. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far, especially those of you who rose to the challenge last week during the matching gift challenge. While we did not have 100 parents participate, we did exceed our monetary goal of $3000, and our generous anonymous matching donor matched with another $3000. We have currently raised almost $40,000. With that in mind, we are extending the campaign until December 18.
At this point, 35% of our families have participated in the Annual Campaign. This equates to about 150 families. This means that nearly 350 families have an opportunity to help us reach our goal of 100% parent participation. If each of those 350 families gave an average of $30, we would exceed our $50,000 goal.
You can donate online using the link below, or visit the annual fund table this Friday at dismissal. Make a donation and purchase a yummy treat from the bake sale (if you'd like to donate some baked goods to the bake sale, we need those as well).
As a reminder, here are some incentives to sweeten the deal:
- Classes that reach 80% parent participation get 15 min extra recess (Ms. Atkinson's class is at 77%. If just one more family in her class gives, they'll reach 80%)
- Classes at 80% parent participation and greater than $2000 raised - teacher gets an extra day off (Mr. Nguyen's class has exceeded $2000, but they need 5 more families to donate before he gets that much deserved day off. Ms. Guarino's girls are running a close second.)
- The first two families who donate $2500 will get a reserved carpool space each in front of the building. They can skip carpool and their kids are hand delivered to them at dismissal - BOTH OF THESE SPOTS HAVE BEEN CLAIMED
- ANY parent who enrolls in sustained giving "10 for 10" (ten payments of AT LEAST $10 each to celebrate our 10 year anniversary) are eligible for a drawing for 2 reserved carpool spaces in front of the building. They can skip carpool and their kids are hand delivered to them at dismissal - this drawing will take place after Thanksgiving break. (only 10 families have signed up as recurring donors, so there's still a chance to get in on this drawing)
- Highest Classroom Amount Collected = Class gets a Fine Dining experience with Ms. Campbell and Mr. Jaleel at Eagles Landing (right now, Mr. Nguyen's 5th grade boys class is in the lead, but there's still time to overtake them).
Gifts to the annual fund support the general operating budget of Amana, allowing us to provide more enriching educational opportunities for your children on a daily basis.
Thank you in advance for considering a gift to the Annual Fund - together we can make great things happen at Amana!

GEORGIA MILESTONE COACH WORKBOOKS ORDER NOW AVAILABLE |
Dear Parents,
Last year, the Georgia Department of Education launched the Georgia Milestones standardized test, which includes questions that require higher depth of knowledge and the ability to explain your reasoning in math and ELA. At Amana we dig deeply into the standards and feel that our students are better prepared than students that don't have the benefit of the Expeditionary Learning model, but a little review is always helpful. We are pleased to offer the Crosswalk Coach (Science & Social Studies) and Common Core Performance Coach Workbooks (Math & Reading/LA) to help your child prepare for the Georgia Milestone Assessments. This grade specific series provides students with the level of rigorous practice that is called for by the Common Core Standards. Books are available for grades 3-8. We suggest purchasing the answer guides (especially for Math and Reading/LA), since there are many questions which require a constructed response, modeling, and short essays.
They may only be purchased this year online only at:
Deadline order: Friday, December 11, 2016

The IXL board has been updated as of Wednesday, November 18th, 2015. Look for your child's name on the IXL board in the main hallway. We have seven students who passed the last milestone of 5,000 problems worked out. Students who pass this milestone will be recognized during the honors ceremony in January. For our overachievers, we have added an additional challenge with a milestone of 10,000 problems. All students who get their names on the IXL board will be candidates for a drawing to win an iPad!

BRING A NOTE FOR YOUR TEACHER DURING THANKFUL TOTES WEEK
|
This week is Thankful Totes Week! Each classroom teacher has a special tote in their classroom. Students are asked to bring in personal notes and cards to fill in their teachers' totes during the week on as many days as they wish. It's a great time for Students, Parents and Staff to write and share handwritten notes to show appreciation for all the hard work and effort.
Specials teachers, support staff, and administration will also have Thankful Totes. Let's remember to appreciate all of them! Staff who does not have a classroom will have their totes placed in the front lobby.
Teachers and staff appreciate small gifts as well! Please give gift cards directly to the recipients rather than placing in the totes.
