INCENTIVES FOR GIVING TO ANNUAL FUND
Dear Parents:

We are halfway to our goal of $50,000, and we still have three weeks to go.  To sweeten the pot a little bit, we've come up with some incentives that will benefit our teachers and students, as well as parents.  Here they are:
  • Classes that reach 80% parent participation get 15 min extra recess
  • Classes at 80% parent participation and greater than $2000 raised - teacher gets an extra day off.
  • The first two families who donate $2500 will get a reserved carpool space each in front of the building. They can skip carpool and their kids are hand delivered to them at dismissal.
  • ANY parent who enrolls in sustained giving "10 for 10" (ten payments of AT LEAST $10 each to celebrate our 10 year anniversary) are eligible for a drawing for 2 reserved carpool spaces in front of the building. They can skip carpool and their kids are hand delivered to them at dismissal.
  • Highest Classroom Amount Collected = Class gets a Fine Dining experience with Ms. Campbell and Mr. Jaleel at Eagles Landing.
We are really focused on increasing participation this year, so keep in mind that every little bit helps.  We ask families to give a gift that is meaningful to them, and that they are comfortable with.  Gifts to the annual fund support the general operating budget of Amana, allowing us to provide more enriching educational opportunities for your children on a daily basis.

Thank you in advance for considering a gift to the Annual Fund - together we can make great things happen at Amana!

SCHOOL CLIMATE SURVEY
STUDENT SURVEY
Students in grades 3-8 will complete the Georgia Student Health Survey (GSHS) 2.0 the week of November 9-13.  The GSHS 2.0 for elementary students includes school safety and school climate questions. The GSHS 2.0 for middle school students covers various topics such as school climate and safety, graduation, school dropouts, alcohol and drug use, bullying and harassment, suicide, and   nutrition.  Students will complete the survey during their Tech class.  Student surveys are anonymous and will be sent directly to the Georgia Department of Education for  analysis.

If parents do not want their child to complete the survey, they have the option of opting out by emailing the counselor at
tsloan@amanaacademy.org

PARENT SURVEY
The Georgia Parent Survey is also modeled after the student survey and contains 24 questions. Parents may complete the survey using their personal computer, smart phones or tablet.

All parents are encouraged to participate in the Georgia Parent Survey because the data will be used as part of the calculation of the School Climate Star Rating. Survey responses are anonymous and will be submitted directly to the Georgia Department of Education for analysis.  Individual data results from the Georgia Parent Survey will not be available to the public and will not be posted online.  The URL address for the Georgia Parent Survey is posted below.

BRING A NOTE FOR YOUR TEACHER DURING THANKFUL TOTES WEEK
The week of November 16-20 is Thankful Totes Week! Each classroom teacher will have a special tote in their classroom. Students are asked to bring in personal notes and cards to fill in their teachers' totes during the week on as many days as they wish. It's a great time for Students, Parents and Staff to write and share handwritten notes to show appreciation for all the hard work and effort.

Specials teachers, support staff, and administration will also have Thankful Totes. Let's remember to appreciate all of them! Staff who does not have a classroom will have their totes placed in the front lobby.

Teachers and staff appreciate small gifts as well! Please give gift cards directly to the recipients rather than placing in the totes.

For questions, please contact Nadine Ghalayini, PIE Teacher & Staff Appreciation Chair, at  nadine.s.ghalayini@gmail.com
