AMANA ACADEMY ANNOUNCED AS FINALIST FOR BEST STEM DAY ACTIVITY IN STATE
The Technology Association of Georgia (TAG) and the TAG Education Collaborative (TAG-Ed) today announced the finalists for the fourth annual STEM Education awards.  These awards were created to recognize and celebrate schools, extracurricular programs, public-private partnerships, science agencies and post-secondary education outreach programs for outstanding efforts and achievement in supporting and promoting science, technology, engineering, and math education in Georgia.

"We applaud each of this year's finalists for their extraordinary efforts to bolster awareness about the importance of STEM and for their hard work to increase student participation in science, technology, engineering and math programs," said Michael Robertson, director of TAG-Ed. "Georgia will need to fill some 211,000 STEM-related jobs by 2018, so we are pleased to showcase so many great schools, programs and organizations that are helping to develop a strong future workforce for our state. "

Amana was announced as a finalist for the best STEM Day Activity.  For a list of all of the categories and finalists, click here to visit the Technology Association of Georgia's Education Collaborative website. Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on August 28.

HIGH SCHOOL PROJECT -  JOIN OUR ORGANIZING CREW
As was mentioned by Mr. Ehab Jaleel, Amana Academy's Executive Director, at last Friday's Open House sessions, we are working on developing a high school charter focused on developing graduates who will be a new generation of innovative, self-directed, multilingual citizen scholars who bring an entrepreneurial approach to a complex 21st century world. Grounded in the principles of stewardship and philanthropy, and accustomed to rigor and collaboration, these graduates will be global and civic-minded ambassadors of knowledge who are equipped with the skills to lead in work and life.

The school's working name is Innovate Fulton Charter High School, and it's mission will be to prepare students to be entrepreneurial, philanthropic innovators by immersing them in an educational environment powered by design thinking, creative collaboration, and professional partnerships.

We are looking for parents to serve on our organizing Crew. If you are interested, please contact Mr. Jaleel at
ejaleel@amanaacademy.org.

There will be two information sessions if you want to learn more about this project - August 20th form 6:00 PM - 7:00 PM in the Parent Center; and August 21st from 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM in the Parent Center.
