ARE YOU LOGGING YOUR VOLUNTEER HOURS?
Amana values and appreciates our parent volunteers for many reasons.  First and foremost, it's because we know that the work you do benefits all of our students - schools with high parent engagement also have high student achievement. Second, we can't do what we do without help.  Parents are involved in all aspects of the school - from the Governing Board, to PIE, to being expert visitors, to field study chaperons, and all points in between.  You are important, and the work you do has value.

We want to be able to recognize and celebrate that value, but we need you to log your volunteer hours so that we can.  If you've been a mystery reader, or you've helped out with a Hands On Amana Day, or you've helped gather stuff for the SQUAWK & WALK auction baskets, you should log the hours you've spent doing that stuff.  Have you chaperoned a field study? Talked to a class of students about what you do for a living? Served on the Governing Board or PIE Board? Served as a Crew Parent? Passed out flyers? Helped out in the classroom? All of that (and more) counts as volunteering!  And we want to know about it.

Did you know that showing strong parent support can help us win grants from government and private foundations?  If we can tell them how many hours our parents volunteered over the past year (and let's face it, we know that you give A LOT of time and effort to Amana), that lets them know that you believe in what we're doing, and you're willing to help us accomplish our goals.  And that, in turn, benefits each and every student at the school.

If you don't know how to log your hours, here's a quick tutorial:

1. Go to the Amana Website - www.amanaacademy.org

2. Click on the Quick Links button in the lower menu bar, and choose Log Your Volunteer Hours:

3. Enter your child's last name (not yours) and your carpool number (if your carpool number is a single digit - like "1", but it shows as "001" on your carpool tag, just enter the single digit in the Carpool number field):

4. Fill out the form and submit:

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR SQUAWK & WALK

Speaking of volunteers, we need a lot to help out with SQUAWK & WALK on May 1st and 2nd.  This is a great way to earn time toward your 10-hour requirement, and it's super fun.  Everyone who volunteers on Friday afternoon or on Saturday will receive one free meal ticket.  Please take a minute to look at the Sign-up Genius and sign up for one of the slots.   Thanks!!
LAST CHANCE TO GET A T-SHIRT FOR SQUAWK & WALK!

Speaking of SQUAWK & WALK, we really want you all to join us on Saturday, May 2 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM here at the school for our 2nd Annual SQUAWK & WALK, presented by Mar-Jac Poultry.  Registration is $20 per person, and this includes participating in the Walk, a delicious BBQ Chicken Dinner, a chance to bid on fabulous baskets and items in the silent auction (jewelry, spa gift cards, a Barbie Dream House, Lego sets, Museum memberships, - the list just keeps getting longer), carnival activities, and more.  Everyone who registers BY FRIDAY, APRIL 25 is guaranteed a t-shirt.  Registrations received after this date may not receive a t-shirt.

Click here to register online, or print out this pledge form, fill it out and turn it in at the front desk by Friday, April 25 to make sure you get a t-shirt.  Outside of the Annual Campaign, this is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and will help us reach our goal of $75,000.  That money directly benefits each and every student at Amana, so be sure to join us for this fun event that's for a great cause!
