Amana values and appreciates our parent volunteers for many reasons. First and foremost, it's because we know that the work you do benefits all of our students - schools with high parent engagement also have high student achievement. Second, we can't do what we do without help. Parents are involved in all aspects of the school - from the Governing Board, to PIE, to being expert visitors, to field study chaperons, and all points in between. You are important, and the work you do has value.
We want to be able to recognize and celebrate that value, but we need you to log your volunteer hours so that we can. If you've been a mystery reader, or you've helped out with a Hands On Amana Day, or you've helped gather stuff for the SQUAWK & WALK auction baskets, you should log the hours you've spent doing that stuff. Have you chaperoned a field study? Talked to a class of students about what you do for a living? Served on the Governing Board or PIE Board? Served as a Crew Parent? Passed out flyers? Helped out in the classroom? All of that (and more) counts as volunteering! And we want to know about it.
Did you know that showing strong parent support can help us win grants from government and private foundations? If we can tell them how many hours our parents volunteered over the past year (and let's face it, we know that you give A LOT of time and effort to Amana), that lets them know that you believe in what we're doing, and you're willing to help us accomplish our goals. And that, in turn, benefits each and every student at the school.
If you don't know how to log your hours, here's a quick tutorial:
2. Click on the Quick Links button in the lower menu bar, and choose Log Your Volunteer Hours:
3. Enter your child's last name (not yours) and your carpool number (if your carpool number is a single digit - like "1", but it shows as "001" on your carpool tag, just enter the single digit in the Carpool number field):
4. Fill out the form and submit:
