Amana has a new Clinician, and if you haven't met her yet, please make a point to say hello the next time you're in the school. Her name is Muriel Elliott, and she's a registered nurse. She's been hard at work these first few weeks getting our clinic in tip-top condition, and she wants to make sure that we're giving all of our students the best possible care when they come to the clinic.
If there's ever a time when your child might need to have medication administered at school, please be sure to fill out the proper forms and have them signed by your physician. Without the proper documentation, the school will be unable to give your child medicine. Fulton County Student Health Services Form SHS1 is linked here (this is an authorization for the clinician to give a student medicine), and Form SHS2 is linked here (this is an authorization for a Middle School student to carry medication).

AMANA ACADEMY AMBASSADOR? |
Are you passionate about Amana Academy's educational approach, and you want to learn more? Do you have good conversational or public speaking skills? Are you someone who likes to share positive stories with others? Then you are the type of person we are looking for our Amana Ambassadors program! Our 2020 Vision features a number of strategies and goals that will propel our students to greater heights, and along the way we want to make sure we are sharing their successes with the community. So go ahead, and sign-up by clicking here. The first meeting will be held the week of September 1st, and an invitation will be sent to those who sign up.

Spirit Week is also coming soon! if you have not purchased your spirit wear yet, you can do so online at http://www.amana.deco-apparel.com. We will also be selling spirit wear at our table in the lobby on Friday, September 5th during dismissal. Cash and check will be accepted.

| MEDIA CENTER VOLUNTEERS WANTED |

The new school year is underway and Ms. Falkenberg needs volunteer support to organize the classroom libraries and prepare new books for the shelves. Sign up here - you can come in any time between 9:50 AM and 1:00 PM, Tuesday through Thursday.
If you have a few hours to spare, we'd love to have your help! (Library volunteers are considered Tier II. Click here for information on getting approved to serve as a Tier II volunteer this school year.)

Have you submitted your Volunteer Interest Form for your child's class?
Thank you to all the parents or guardians that submitted the Volunteer Interest Form included in your Open House folder!
There are still some classrooms without a single volunteer, and FIFTEEN classrooms with fewer than two volunteers. But it's not too late! Please fill out the appropriate form below. If you have both elementary and middle school students, please fill out one of each.
Middle School Form
When parents volunteer in schools, student learning is impacted in a very positive way. We need as many parents as possible to lend their talents to help make Amana an even better school for all of our students. There is a way for everyone to contribute! From donating food or materials to supporting STEM activities and everywhere in between, at least a portion of your 10 volunteer hours can be completed through classroom support.

f you didn't get a chance to pay your PIE Activity Fee at Open House, you can still do so online. This year, the Activity Fee is only $20 per family. The Activity Fee funds events and activities that build school spirit and provide student enrichment throughout the year. For more information or to pay online, click here.
If you prefer, you can still pay by check. Make your check payable to "Amana Academy PIE" and include your child(ren)'s names in the memo. Then slide it into the PIE mailbox in the lobby or return it to your child's teacher.

| IT'S NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN A CLUB! |
| Our Club's Expo, held last Friday, August 22, was a huge success. Many families visited the tables and signed their students up for after-school clubs. If you missed it, though, don't worry - you can still sign up to participate. Visit the Activities page on the Amana website and take a look at the many clubs that are being offered this year. Then contact the vendor or teacher sponsoring the club to see if there's still space available. |

JOIN AMANA AT PIEDMONT PARK FOR NATIONAL PUBLIC LANDS DAY

Stewardship is one of the core principles that Amana is founded on as an Expeditionary Learning school, and it's time to put it into action! Join us on Saturday, September 27, from 8:00 AM until 12:00 noon at Piedmont Park for National Public Lands Day. This event is organized by REI in Atlanta.
We will be engaged in a variety of park improvement activities such as trail clearing and weed removal. Students and siblings are welcome! Please bring water and work gloves if you have them, and don't forget to wear your Amana T-shirt.
