SQUAWK & WALK WITH US ON APRIL 19! |
Our first annual Squawk & Walk on April 19, 2014 from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM is sure to be a fun and fit activity for students and their families, with all participants reaching for their personal best. Our goal is to raise at least $20,000 for the Annual Fund at Amana Academy.

A portion of this amount will be matched by Mar-Jac Poultry, up to $10,000! We hope that each family will participate in the Squawk & Walk to the best of its ability. If each student raises $15.00, we will achieve our goal; although, we're hoping to exceed our goal, so the more donations you collect, the better!
Immediately following the walk, we will host a chicken barbecue behind the school, courtesy of Mar-Jac Poultry. Meal tickets are $5 in advance and $7 at the door. At that time, participants and guests will also have an opportunity to bid on some fabulous items in our silent auction.
Look for information to come home this week in your child's Friday folder. You can also download pledge forms and pledge letters here. If you're tech savvy, you can set up a pledge page using our crowdrise page:
http://www.crowdrise.com/SquawkAndWalk
Just click on the link on the right-hand side that says "Set Up your Fundraiser" to create your own micro-site, and then you can share it with your friends and family through email, on Facebook and Twitter.

The Atlanta Science Festival Expo will be occurring next Saturday 3/29 11am - 4 pm at Centennial Olympic Park. It is a free and amazing opportunity for families to get out and experience some high quality science. When Amana students register at the event, they are registering to win $400 for their grade's science classroom. We would love for all Amana students to attend this wonderful educational event. Check out the Science Festival website for more information about other events that are going on throughout the city.

STRATEGIC PLANNING WORKSHOP AND BOARD TOWN HALL MEETING |
Join us next Thursday, March 27 at 6:00 PM for a Board Town Hall meeting and Strategic Planning Workshop session. All meetings of the Amana Board are posted to our website calendar and open to the public unless designated as "executive session" where, by law, the Board must convene in private to discuss land, legal or personnel items. Any vote resulting from executive session discussion, however, will occur in an open public setting.
At this meeting, the Board will introduce its two newest members, Ms. Crystal Canaday and Dr. Kristen Person-Ramey. Following the Town Hall portion of the meeting, there will be a Strategic Planning Workshop, where we will work together to build a draft version of Amana's next 5-year plan. This process will be informed by the information gathered at the focus group meetings that have been held over the last month. |
