WHY DID YOU CHOOSE AMANA?
|
Thank you for choosing Amana for your child's education! As part of our celebration of National School Choice week, we want to know why you made that choice. Was it our Expeditionary Learning model, our Arabic World Language program, our focus on stewardship, or something else altogether?
Please take a moment to fill out this short form. Your answers (with your permission) will be posted on the bulletin board in the lobby during School Choice Week, January 26-February 1. |
THANKS FOR HELPING "CHANGE THE OUTCOME!" |
Thank you to everyone who participated in the "Change the Outcome" effort for the Amana Annual Fund! We are so grateful to all of the crew parents who rallied together last week to collect your coins, cash and checks. Our parent participation rate is now at 47%!
Thank you, also, to those parents who came in and helped count and roll all of that change. We managed to raise more than $1400 last Friday alone!
The grade level competition concluded at the end of last semester, and 1st Grade took the lead. They closed the semester at 62% (and are now at 78% after last Friday), which means that 1st grade has earned a free out-of uniform day. We will announce the date for this reward soon.
We will continue to update you with annual fund participation totals throughout the rest of the year. If you haven't already participated, it's not too late!

PREPARE FOR PERFECT UNIFORM WEEK |
We all know that school uniforms can have a positive effect on student learning, so we want to get back on track with promoting good compliance with our uniform policy by using a specific week to remind everyone what proper uniform is at Amana. We are setting the week of February 10th as "Perfect Uniform Week".
Beginning February 10, any student out of uniform shall be sent to the office, where they will be given the opportunity to call their parent or guardian and ask them to bring the appropriate clothing. The child will remain in the office until the appropriate clothing arrives.
As always, if families are in need of assistance in getting the appropriate uniform for their children, please contact Ms. Lambert at llambert@amanaacademy.org. We will be happy to work with you to get what your child needs.
Please familiarize yourself with our uniform policy and examples of appropriate dress.

We hope you are as excited as we are about our new Learning Garden project! Follow our progress by visiting our Learning Garden website.
Join us for a Hands On Amana service day on Saturday, February 1 from 9AM until 2PM. We will be preparing beds in front of the school for planting. To volunteer for this project, please click here.
The Amana Academy Garden Club will begin meeting on February 22. If you are a parent who is interested in helping with this club, or you want to sign your students up for this club, please click here. |
RE-COMMITMENT - SAVE YOUR SEAT FOR 2014-15! |
Dear Parents:
As we prepare for Open Enrollment for new students, we must calculate how many of our current students and any of their siblings new to the school will be attending Amana next year. We must have this information prior to the lottery so that we can calculate how many open seats we will have.
In order to reserve your seat for next year, please complete the Re-commitment Form on our website, located under the Admissions tab, by January 31, 2014.
