ANNUAL FUND CONTEST NEARING A CLOSE
We're nearing the end of our grade-level annual fund contest, and right now First Grade still holds the lead.  This is the perfect time to make a tax-deductible donation before the end of the year, and help us reach our goal of 100% parent participation!  Also, students whose families donate to the annual fund are entered in a drawing for principal for the day.  We'll be drawing three names next Friday (one for each month of the contest) and those students will have an opportunity to shadow Ms. McClure or Mr. Jaleel in the new year.

Here's where we stand so far:

Kindergarten - 15%
First Grade - 59%
Second Grade - 13%
Third Grade - 30%
Fourth Grade - 16%
Fifth Grade - 17%
Sixth Grade - 19%
Seventh Grade - 14%
Eighth Grade - 11%

Overall, our parent participation is at 23%, and we've raised a total of $26,254.

You can donate online using our secure online giving site, or drop your cash or check donation off in the box in the lobby - we've even got extra donor cards at the front desk if you need one.  No amount is too small, and every dollar is much needed and appreciated!
RE-COMMITMENT - SAVE YOUR SEAT FOR 2014-15!
Dear Parents:

As we prepare for Open Enrollment for new students, we must calculate how many of our current students and any of their siblings new to the school will be attending Amana next year. We must have this information prior to the lottery so that we can calculate how many open seats we will have.

In order to reserve your seat for next year, please complete the Re-commitment Form on our website, located under the Admissions tab, by January 31, 2014.

PARENT SURVEY - WE NEED YOUR FEEDBACK
We value your opinion and ask that you take the time to complete our Fall Parent Survey

by Sunday 12/22. Our parent survey format comes from Advance-ED, our accrediting agency.  In order to complete the survey please click on the following link: http://www.advanc-ed.org/survey/public/7483975

Reminders & Tips:
  • Please be assured that your responses to this survey will be anonymous. Your honest opinion is appreciated.
  • Since the survey does not ask for feedback on specific staff members, please feel free to use the Open-Ended Questions in section-7 for this type of feedback.

Thank you for your time and attention to this request.

LOST AND FOUND TO BE DONATED

Parents, please note that all non-uniform lost and found will be donated to North Fulton Community Charities on December 20th.  Uniform items left in the lost and found after December 20th will be donated to the PIE used uniform sale.  If you think an item of your child's clothing might be in the lost and found, please come get it before next Friday.

Beginning in January, lost and found will be sorted and donated every two weeks.  Students should check regularly for lost items.

OPEN HOUSE FOR PROSPECTIVE
STUDENTS AND PARENTS

If you have friends or neighbors who are interested in learning more about Amana and Expeditionary Learning, invite them to join us for an Open House this Sunday, December 15 from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM.  More information can be found on our website by clicking here.

PACK 285 TO HOLD ITS FIRST MEETING

PACK 285 is holding its first pack meeting this Friday at 6 pm in the Amana Academy media center. All boys and parents are encouraged to attend. Feel free to invite friends to join along with your son. Scouts do NOT need to be students at Amana Academy.

It is not too late to join! If you have not joined the pack but are interested in joining, there will be sign up forms available at the meeting. Pack dues of $85 will be collected at that time.

For more information, contact our Scout Master, Jason Blalock at jwblalock@gmail.com or Steve Jackson, our Committee Chair, at stevenljackson1@gmail.com.

LESS THAN A WEEK LEFT TO ORDER DISCOUNTED YEARBOOKS

6 Days of Pre-Order Time Left

Your child's discounted yearbook - full of wonderful memories - is available at a special rate of $32 until Friday, December 20th. After this, the rate will increase to $40!  Save money now by ordering your 2013-14 Amana Academy Yearbook before winter break.

Remember: The Grade Level which orders the highest number of books during the pre-order period will win a signing party at the end of the year!  So far there is a tight race. Any one of the grades could win with just a little effort.

Order forms are available HERE. Place your completed forms and checks in the PIE Mailbox on the wall in the main lobby.

For the next two Fridays, you can also order yearbooks in person (check or exact cash) at the table in our school lobby.

Don't have time to print a form and write out a check?  Then use your time wisely and order ONLINE.
