| RE-COMMITMENT - SAVE YOUR SEAT FOR 2014-15! |
Dear Parents:
As we prepare for Open Enrollment for new students, we must calculate how many of our current students and any of their siblings new to the school will be attending Amana next year. We must have this information prior to the lottery so that we can calculate how many open seats we will have.
In order to reserve your seat for next year, please complete the Re-commitment Form on our website, located under the Admissions tab, by January 31, 2014.

| GRADE-LEVEL COMPETITION: 1st GRADE ROCKS! |
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our 1st Grade Crew Parents, families in 1st grade have achieved 56% participation! Thank you for showing your dedication to this important effort.
 We also had some 1st grade students show their support for Amana by digging into their own piggy banks and contributing to the Annual Fund. What a great demonstration of the EL Design Principle "Service and Compassion."
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already made their donation, and to all of those crew parents at every level grade who have made this effort a priority! 3rd grade is in second place with 26% parent participation, and 5th is creeping up behind them with 16%. As a whole, we're at 19% parent participation - which is higher than we were overall at the end of last year. We've raised $24,174 in donations and pledges - just imagine where we'll be when we reach 100% participation!
 Here are the class rankings: Kindergarten - 12% 1st Grade - 56% 2nd Grade - 12% 3rd Grade - 26% 4th Grade - 13% 5th Grade - 16% 6th Grade - 14% 7th Grade - 11% 8th Grade - 6%
Remember, the grade-level with the highest percentage of parent participation at the end of this semester will receive a free out-of uniform day. And every student whose family donates will be entered in a weekly drawing to be Principal for the Day. You can donate online through our secure fundraising page, or you can send your donation in to the school in the form of cash or a check made payable to Amana Academy. Make your gift go further by participating in your company's matching gift program. Not sure if your company matches charitable donations? Visit our Double the Donation page to see if they offer an employee matching gift program.

| THIS WEEK IS LOVE TOTES WEEK! |
This week is already half over, but there's still time for you and your child to send your teacher a special message! Please bring in handwritten notes to your homeroom and specials teachers. Place them in the Love Tote which will be provided by your crew parent so your teachers can enjoy reading your kind words over the break!

| BOY SCOUTS PACK 285 FORMING |
|
Boy Scouts Pack 285 is still forming! We are very close to signing our charter and beginning our meetings and we want you to come! Cubmaster Jason Blalock, will be in the lobby during Friday Dismissal to hand out applications and answer questions. He has all the scout handbooks on hand if you want to come and see what the boys will be doing! So much fun! If you do not see him during Friday Dismissal, then feel free to email him at jwblalock@gmail.com.

| FINAL STRETCH FOR THE BOX TOP CONTEST |
The Box Top Collection Contest is nearing its end. The deadline for bringing in Box Tops is this Thursday, November 21. You and your student can still make that final trip to the grocery store to hunt down Box Top products. Place your Box Tops in the brand new Box Top Collection Boxes in all of your students' classrooms. The winning class for each grade level will win a popcorn party because kids LOVE popcorn. As for the class that collects the most Box Tops overall, they will win a specialy Mystery Prize, which they will discover when the winners are announced!

| FOOD DRIVE FOR REFUGEES IN ATLANTA |

Amana Academy is happy to partner with Alif institute and IRC (International Rescue Committee) to help assist newly arrived refugees in Atlanta.
The 6th grade Arabic class students are leading this campaign and asking all Families at Amana to generously donate non-perishable food items to those in need to make a meaningful difference to the displaced families the IRC serves.
