ANNUAL FUND - PARENTS PLEASE PARTICIPATE! |
The 2013-14 Annual Fund officially launched last Wednesday, October 16 at the State of School Address. A gift to the Amana annual fund is a vote of confidence - a sign that our community invests in our students' futures and supports the school's mission. The annual fund helps support many different initiatives at Amana, from offsetting facilities costs to improved classroom technology and staff professional development. Amana relies on the annual fund to help bridge the critical funding gap that is faced by most public charter schools.
The mission of the annual fund is to support Amana in the here and now. It provides flexible, immediate funds, and ensures that Amana has the ability to act on the needs that arise each year. Last year, the annual fund was used to fund TAG certification for a cohort of Amana teachers, as well as much-needed cubbies for all of our first grade classrooms, and improved classroom technology in the form of wireless projectors for every classroom.
Our goal this year is to reach 100% participation by our Governing Board, the Amana Faculty and Staff, and our Amana families. Strong participation from our entire community has a direct impact on gifts from outside sources such as grant-making foundations, as high rates of participation are required by foundations before they will consider our grant requests. As we look to the future, these participation numbers become ever more important. The good news is that our Governing Board and Mr. Jaleel have already paved the way by committing a collective $10,000 to the cause!
We are running a grade-level competition between now and the end of December. The grade level with the highest participation percentage will win an out-of-uniform day. Every gift matters, no matter how large or how small - we just ask that you give at a level that is comfortable for you. Individual gift amounts will not be published.
Right now, 1st and 3rd grades are tied with 7% participation each. If you want to donate, you can do so online through our secure fundraising page, or you can send your donation in to the school in the form of cash or a check made payable to Amana Academy. Make your gift go further by participating in your company's matching gift program. Not sure if your company matches charitable donations? Visit our Double the Donation page to see if they offer an employee matching gift program.

BOY SCOUTS RALLY - OCTOBER 29 |
Pack 285 invites prospective cub and boy scouts as well as their families to a Rally Night on Tuesday, October 29th at 6:00 PM at Amana Academy. This is a kick-off informational event for Pack 285, Amana's first cub and boy scout pack. At Rally Night, families receive information about meeting times, can submit their scouting applications and pay dues, meet the leadership team, and experience scouting traditions such as the flag ceremony. Prospective scouts will learn to pitch a tent and how to use other camping equipment. It's a fast 60 minutes of fun! Dens are forming now! There is much excitement surrounding the formation of pack 285 and we are eager to share it with the entire Amana community. Feel free to invite friends to join along with your son.
