After-School Activities Can Change a Child's Life!
If you missed last Friday's Clubs Expo, you still have a chance to learn about our school's 30 clubs! Just visit our website to learn more.
There is a mix of competitive academic teams, sports clubs, and recreational clubs. It's the most comprehensive clubs offering in Amana history!
Research has shown that after-school activities help youth develop social skills, improve academic performance, and help them build strong supportive relationships with adults other than their parents. Young children benefit especially from the social skills development and improved academic skills. This leads to improved conflict management and better school attendance. Middle-school aged youth who continue to participate in after-school activities are more likely to be engaged in school and attentive in class. Participation in after-school activities continues to be a benefit for students right through high school. Adolescents in after-school programs are optimistic for the future and have more interest in school than peers who are unsupervised after school.
Encourage your child to participate in a club today and contact the club organizers of your choice!

Amana is now proud to offer a line of Spirit Wear for students and parents to purchase. We have worked with a company called Big Frog Custom T-Shirts located in Marietta. They specialize in a process called "direct-to-garment" printing which allows them to print orders on demand. Once you order your Amana spirit wear online, they can have it ready within 24 hours.
You can either have it shipped directly to your home (for a shipping fee) or you can order it and someone from Amana will pick up orders once or twice a month and then send your order home with your child.
Currently there are four designs to choose from. All of them are available in youth and adult sizes, and in long or short sleeves, and prices range from $10-$15 per shirt.
Students will be given one opportunity per month, usually on a Friday, to dress down and wear their spirit wear. These dress-down days will usually coincide with an environmental or social awareness day. The first of these "spirit-wear" days is September 20, which is the Friday before Clean Up the World Campaign weekend. If you order spirit wear between now and September 13, it will be sent home with your child sometime during the week of September 16-19. They can wear it on September 20 to show their Amana Eagle Spirit.Questions about spirit wear? Email info@amanaacademy.org.

Absences:
Amana Academy has an attendance check system to provide an extra measure of accuracy for our students. Its effectiveness depends on the parents' cooperation of logging onto our website, and accurately completing the form for absences.
- Log onto the Amana Academy Website at www.amanaacademy.org
- Go to Quicklinks on the home page and click on 'attendance form'
- Click "Notify Amana" of an absence for your child
- Select the date of the absence from the calendar, and complete the online form.
- Once completed, you will receive an email confirmation. Please keep this for your records.
Please Note: A form must be completed for each day a child is absent and submitted within 3 business days of the absence. No absences will be excused after 3 business days. Only the reasons provided on the form are considered excused, and may require additional documentation. Any absence for religious reasons must be a recognized religious holiday. Any other reason for absence requires written approval from the grade level administrator.
Tardy:
