Cars Arriving Before 7:45 AM Have a New Option as of August 26th

Dear Amana Families:

We have been monitoring traffic patterns carefully during morning drop-off, and we have noticed that all but a few students are entering the school well before 8:00 AM, yet the greatest congestion is happening between 7:40-7:50 AM. This congestion is impacting surrounding streets.  We are taking two actions to reduce your drop-off time and to alleviate this congestion:

  1. While front entrance drop-off is available between 7:30-8:00 AM, families arriving before 7:45 AM now have the option to loop around the back of the building (around Satay House restaurant) and utilize the rear cafeteria entrance. Cars using this option must maintain a single-file carpool line. Note that the rear cafeteria door will close at 7:45 AM; and cars will be rerouted to the front of the building.
  2. We will work with the City of Alpharetta Traffic Engineering department to adjust the traffic light timings at the intersection of Roswell and South Main Streets during these 10 minutes of congestion. The idea will be to give more time for Roswell Street users to free up the back-up. We will inform you of our progress to get this change approved.

Please read the updated instructions and review the diagrams to familiarize yourself with the procedures and the key changes.
