Message From Your Partners in Education (PIE)

InternationalThankYou

Dear Amana Family and Friends:

On behalf on the 2012 PIE International Festival Committee, I want to thank everyone who came out to celebrate our school's diversity and learn about different cultures from all over the world!

This special event is one of many made possible by your annual PIE activity fee, so THANK YOU very much for your financial support.  Equally, I want to give a big thank you to our amazing volunteers!  It truly could not have happened without all of our parents, teachers, staff, family and friends. Whether you volunteered from day one, helped set up, ran an activity, hosted a country booth, or ran out last minute to get a forgotten supply, your individual contributions made this year's festival a huge success.  Our gratitude is endless!  On that note, please take a moment to record your volunteer hours on our online Volunteer Hours Log page.

I also want to recognize this year's outstanding International Festival Committee members.  These dedicated and passionate parent volunteers gave countless hours of their time in the areas below and many others:

  • Carrie Doulfikhar - Co-Chair, International Festival
  • Hala Al-Bahloul - Carnival/Games
  • Majd Almoayd - Carnival/Games
  • Nathalie Chaudry - Silent Auction
  • Sara Ead - International Food Court/Vendors
  • Colleen Jaafar - Cultural Displays

Of course, there are so many others that helped us along the way, but if I started listing everyone by name, I would take up the entire newsletter!  So, thank you, thank you to everyone behind the scenes who helped with the Variety Show, food service, volunteer recruitment, presales, donations, and logistics to name a few.  You know who you are :)

I do want to give a special shout out to our amazing middle school volunteers and Senior/Ambassador Girl Scout Troop #29309, as well as local businesses that made donations. And finally, thank you to Mr. Jaleel and our entire administration for their support!

Calling All Turkey Trot
Participants!

Date: Nov. 14-16

Family and Friends are invited to join students during Physical Education classes on November 14, 15, and 16 for the annual Turkey Trot mile run.  We want community members to serve as role models for healthy living by participating in this wonderful, outdoor activity where kids learn that "exercise" can be a fun and social event.  Participants should sign in at the front desk and indicate which class they want their point to go towards.  The class that accumulates the most points will receive a fabulous pumpkin or apple pie party the following week!  To volunteer for this event or if you have further questions, please contact

Appreciations and Recognitions

Teacher Appreciation Snack Bar:

We thank all of our middle school parents for donating snacks for the Teacher Appreciation Snack Bar last month!  Our faculty and staff were overjoyed when they saw all the passion our middle school parents displayed with their generous contributions.  Because of parents such as you, Amana continues to build strong, supportive partnerships with it's teachers.

International Festival Middle School Volunteers:

On October 20th, over 45 outstanding middle school STUDENT volunteers stepped up to help during the 2012 International Festival!  With such a wonderfully spirited and enthusiastic group of volunteers, everyone had a great time.  Amana's PIE wants to thank all of the students and parents for doing such a great job and for making this year's International Festival such a huge success!

Volunteer of the Month Nomination Form Volunteer of the Month Logo
Do you know a special volunteer that you would nominate as the next Volunteer of the Month?  If so, please submit their name via the online  VOM Nomination Form.  Once a month, our PIE Volunteer Support Coordinator will process the nominations and select the best and most deserving candidate for recognition at the monthly PIE General Assembly Meeting.

By nominating a fellow parent for the Volunteer of Month award, they will receive a certificate of appreciation and a gift that demonstrates Amana's thanks for doing such a great job!  Along with these gifts, the VOM's name will be displayed on the Amana website and on the Amana News TV broadcast.

You can nominate any person that is not serving as a PIE Executive Board member or PIE Chairperson. This can be anyone you feel has really made a difference in the school by acts of kindness and/or volunteer support that goes above and beyond the norm.

Please take the time to speak up on behalf of our Amana volunteers and nominate someone you know that has made such a difference in the lives of so many!
