The DAM Lake Berryessa swim is a classic in its 32nd run! The 2015 swim will continue to be held at the new venue - Steele Canyon Campground, near the junction of highways 128 and 121. This venue features plenty of off-street parking and campsites are available for the weekend. The water is clean and comfortable and the weather is, more often than not, fine!

Lake Del Valle
Saturday & Sunday, June 13-14
This year, the Lake Del Valle event will start on Saturday with a 5K/10K. The swims will run at the same time. You have to pre-register for the 10K and be able to meet the 3 hour cut off time to swim the event.  On Sunday, the 1 mile and the 2.5K will be held.  If you're new to open water swimming, try the 1 mile swim which is run first before the 2.5K.  For a good workout, do both.  There is plenty of parking. It's a good place to bring the kids because they have a roped-off swimming area.  Post-event snacks are provided. The 10k and the 1 mile swims are national championship races.

National Coaches Clinic

Friday-Sunday, June 5-7

The USMS Coaches Committee and Club and Coach Services have developed four levels of Masters coach certification. The courses for Levels 1, 2, and 3 are taught in classroom settings throughout the country by USMS-certified instructors. In June, the coach certification course coincides with the National Coaches Clinic held in Nashville, TN.  Noteworthy Pacific coaches, Stu Kahn, Davis Aquatic Masters (2012 USMS Coach of The Year)
Cokie Lepinski, Swymnut Masters (2014 USMS Coach of the Year)
Dana Kirk, Fremont Hills Masters (2004 Olympian) will be presenting among others.  The Pacific LMSC continues to distinguish itself with high-caliber coaching, clinics, and swimmers.  Perhaps attendance at the National Coaches Clinic [agenda/registration] or a coaches' certification course [information] would be beneficial to you and your club.

Editor's Note

For many of us the school year is winding down and we turn our thoughts toward summer activities that sometimes include traveling.  If you are thinking about continuing to train but are uninformed about where and when a Master's swim workout might be available, the USMS Places to Swim page [here] might be a good source of information.  There is also a tab labeled Workouts which gives creative themed workouts written by fellow members and coaches which might be an incentive to continue to train when you are in unfamiliar surroundings.  Enjoy the summer months in a swimming pool wherever you happen to travel.
