-----------  Upcoming clinics! Coaches, please help us spread the word on these! -----------

Coaches - are you looking for contemporary video and up-to-date information on Free and Back? Come join us and bring some swimmers to this Pacific Masters Free/Back clinic taking place at Civic Center pool in Davis. The clinic runs from 11:00 am-2:30 pm and is lead by Coaches Stu & Mary Kahn from the Davis Aquatic Masters. If you missed Coach Stu's presentation at the Pacific Masters Annual Meeting last November, or you'd like to see it again, now's your chance to an see an extended and updated version.

We'll have two one-hour video presentations covering all aspects of both of strokes including drills that will be taught in the pool. We then head to the pool for two 45 minute sessions, where coaches will help swimmers complete all of the drills. We'll need a lot of coach support on deck that day. We'd love to see as many of you as possible.

Coaches attend free (just need to be a masters coach with a Pacific Masters registered team). Members of Davis Aquatic Masters attend for $25 and all other masters swimmers pay $35 (check or cash, check payable to Davis Aquatic Masters). To register as a coach, contact Stu Kahn at [email protected] or 530-400-3005 To register as a swimmer, contact Coach Mary Kahn at [email protected].  Click the clinic title or here to see the flyer for this event.

Hold this date! We've got a Breaststroke clinic offering, which continues the series of Pac Masters stroke clinics we have done in 2014. This will be led by Coach Cokie Lepinski, Symnuts (2011 Pacific Masters Coach of the Year) and Tom Ruedy, San Mateo Masters (2013 Pacific Masters Coach of the Year) and will cover all the intricacies of the most unique stroke.

The clinic will take place in San Mateo (at the San Mateo Athletic Club), site of our recent Pac Masters Long Course Champs, 1700 W Hillsdale Blvd, San Mateo. We'll have video presentations on the stroke and turn, and then coaches are on deck while swimmers go through a 2-hour session with breaststroke drills and easy laps. This clinic will be a great way to keep yourself and your swimmers enthused and goal oriented for the winter months that follow.

The clinic is free to Pacific Masters coaches, with a $35 charge for Pacific Masters swimmers. All coaches and swimmers must be USMS registered. To register for the clinic as a coach, contact Cokie Lepinski at [email protected] or 415-827-5672. To register for the clinic as a swimmer, contact Coach Tom Reudy at [email protected]Click the clinic title or here to see the flyer for this event.

 Signature Sets

Coaches - we're looking to start a Pacific Masters workout exchange where coaches can submit their favorite practices, or 'Signature Sets' for all to share. If you have a special set, or two, that you use often with your club, we'd like to see it. It doesn't need to an entire workout, just the main set with a perhaps a cool or fun name that you call it. If you're interested in being a part of this new sharing system, please send your practices to Mary Kahn at [email protected]

USMS Coaches Committee

The USMS Coaches Committee exists to educate and support the coaches of masters teams. We have conference calls each month to help us exchange ideas and work toward our goals. One of which is to improve communication with all our coaches across the U.S. By sharing the minutes of our meeting, we can give you some insights into the projects we are working on and goals we are working toward. Click here for our recent meeting notes (they start with Coaches Committee...)
