40th Annual Roughwater Swim, 1 mile (CRUZ)
Saturday, August 2
Ocean swim around the Santa Cruz pier. The water is  usually 58-61 degrees! A fun and very popular swim even if you're numb. It is one of the bigger events and is started in two waves: under 40 years old and 40 years old and over. Bring lots of quarters for the street parking meters ($1.00/hour). Or walk a long way. You may want to bring a chair if you don't like sitting on a sandy beach. No post event food, but there are plenty of restaurants right there.

Cruz Cruise, 2 miles (CRUZ)

Sunday, August 3

Do you like distance and cold water?  Then, this is the swim for you. NOT a novice swim. This event is small and very low key It starts at 8:30 am and is usually foggy. The water should be around 60 degrees...plus or minus a few degrees. To stay warm: wear a thermal cap and ear plugs and don't stop to look around while you are out there. Keep moving! Parking meters are not checked until 10AM so if you swim fast you can park for free. Warm beverages and snacks at the finish.

Donner Lake

Saturday, August 16

The 2014 Donner Lake Swim is SOLD out!

Our thanks to everyone who registered early and  regrets to those who will not be able to participate this year. Our primary goal  is to provide a safe and enjoyable experience for our registered swimmers. Therefore, we must limit the number of participants. There is no waiting list or race day registration. Unregistered participation in the event disrupts our safety plan and is prohibited.

Our registration will open June 1st next year so mark your calendars now to avoid disappointment. The date for the 2015 swim has not been determined by Pacific Masters Swimming. We will know more in January of 2015

If you have further questions please email [email protected].

Pacific Masters Long Course Meters Championships

On behalf of San Mateo Masters and the San Mateo Athletic Club I want to thank all of the USMS swimmers who participated and supported us as the hosts of the PacMasters LCM Championships this past weekend. We also want to thank all of the officials who give up so much of their personal time so that we can do what we love.

We had some great swims with World, National, PacMasters and personal records being set.  We are proud of all of you.  As I always stress to our team, it's about fast swimming but importantly it's about supporting your teammates and Masters swimming.  And most important of all, it's about staying healthy and  having fun!!  I hope we provided that opportunity for all of you. Thanks again for your support and have a great healthy summer.

Tom Reudy, Head Coach, San Mateo Masters [meet results]
