2014 Pacific Masters Coach of The Year

Congratulations to Coach Marcia Benjamin of Marcia's Enthusiastic Masters of Oakland (MEMO). Coach Marcia was this year's recipient of the Pacific Masters Coach of The Year. It's an obvious understatement to say her team excitedly nominated her for the award.
From their nomination packet, they wrote, "We as members of MEMO do admit to being enthusiastic, but it's actually Marcia's enthusiasm and commitment to the sport of swimming that has prompted us to nominate her for this award. Because she brings a wealth of experience and a love of swimming to the pol deck every day, she has inspired her team members to experience the sport as a life-long passion. Marcia has an ability to guide and motivate all levels of athletes, from loyal fitness swimmers to strong competitor who set very high goals for themselves."

It was an honor and a treat as members of the selection committee to read through the packages submitted by the teams about their coach. It was also a reminder that we coaches have an immeasurable impact and responsibility on and to our swimmers. We encourage and applaud everyone in our profession. We also remind you to everyday bring your 'A' game and hold yourself accountable for making just one more be a better swimmer or a better person.
