The 2014 US Masters Swimming Spring National Championships are being held at the Santa Clara International Swim center May 1-4. Any Masters swimmer may enter three events, to swim a fourth, fifth or sixth event, the swimmer must meet the National Qualification Time for that event. [ Meet infoRegistration ]

Pacific Masters Clinic Starts and Turns
April 12, 2014
The Coaches Committee will have a starts and turns clinic for swimmers and coaches on Saturday 12 April 2014 at the Davis Civic Center Pool and Brady Family Aquatic Building.The clinic will run from 10:30 am to 3pm with a half hour break in the middle.
The clinic is free for coaches and is only $30 for USMS registered swimmers ($20 for Davis Aquatic Masters). You can register by contacting Mary Kahn.

Open Water Calendar
The Open Water Schedule has been posted and a description of each event is on the Open Water Pacific web site.
For open water swimmers the top seven finishes count toward the Open Water Point Competition (If swims are cancelled, that number could change). The first open water swim is the Spring Lake One Mile and 500 m swim on Saturday 17 May 2014.
This year the USMS One-Mile Open Water National Championship will be held at Lake Berryessa. The USMS 3-6 Mile Open Water National Championship will be held in Elk Lake, Bend, Oregon August 3.

Pacific Masters Championships Short Course Yards
The Pacific Masters Swimming 2014 Short Course Yards Championships will be held again in Pleasanton this year at the Delores Bengston Aquatic Center, March 28, 29 and 30, 2014. Registration is closed and there is no deck entry. Results will be posted on line.
With the exception of the 1650 free (on Friday) and the 1000 free (on Sunday) all events are swum slowest to fastest. The 1650 and the 1000 will be swum fast to slow.
The meet entry roster shows that 769 swimmers from 72 club will compete. Come out to Pleasanton to cheer your friends and team mates. USF, Walnut Creek and MEMO are the clubs with the three largest number of swimmers competing.
Coach of the Year / 2013 Swimmers of the Year
The 2014 Pacific Masters Coach of the Year will be announced at the Pacific Masters Championships. Also the age group swimmers of the year and the male Swimmer of the Year and the female Swimmer of the Year will be announced.

Thoughts and Prayers
Bud Meyers who refereed many Pacific Masters Meets including two nationals championships underwent a cardiac valve replacement in February. We are hoping for a strong recovery.
Jane A. Wright, former swimmer with Ladera Oaks and an open water swimmer, passed away on March 9. She was a first grade teacher with the San Mateo-Foster City School District for 40 years.

Pacific Masters meeting minutes have been posted for the January and February meetings. The next Pacific Masters meeting will be April 16th.
