2011

2001- 2010

Greetings!

For those swimmers who are looking for a challenge, the Warrenton Masters of Virginia, is sponsoring a a distance stroke challenge. This is for those stroke swimmers who want to compete in distances longer that 200 meters. For those who really want a challenge, there is the 5kFly or 1500 SCM no-crawl IM.

As it says in the website "This is your chance to earn a totally Unofficial World and quite possibly Inter-Galactical, Long-Distance Nonconforming Swim Record. Mark your place in history.

"All record holders will recieve an Official Proclamation by the Mayor of our Town, the Honorable George B Fitch (co-founder of the Jamaican Bobsled Olympic Team of 1988) declaring that you indeed hold this unofficial record. All swimmers will receive recognition for completing their events."

Growth:

Pacific Masters has for the second straight year reached the 11,000 member total. We need about 70 new members to break last years total of 11,073 registered Pacific Masters Swimmers. Thanks to the coaches and volunteers for all their work, for without their time and devotion, there would be a Pacific Masters.

Convention:
Over 30 Pacific Masters members will be traveling to Anaheim to participate in the USMS Convention 10-15 September. They will be volunteering their time to help with the running of United States Masters Swimming. USMS is different from most other NGBs as the volunteers contribute significantly to the running of the organization. The PacMasters office will have limited service as Nancy  will be attending the convention.

You can see what will be discussed by going to the USMS Annual Convention Page. It has the reports and the proposed legislation that the delegates will consider.

The chairman has called a meeting of the Board, it will meet after the Oceana Zone meeting in Anaheim. On the calendar is the schedule for 2014.

Honoring those who have past on
Each year at the US Masters Swimming convention, the names of current and former Masters swimmers are read  at a House of Delegates meeting. If you know of a member or past member who passed since last convention, please contact Nancy Ridout, registrar, with the information.

Service Awards

Pacific Masters honors its volunteers and members with its service awards. The 2013 service awards will be  presented at this years November annual meeting. The four awards include The Contributor of the Year;  The Appreciation Award, Distinguished Service award and the Personal Achievement award. The awards are normally chosen at the October meeting and the award that will be made at the annual meeting. Please feel free to send your nomination to any member of the executive committee, the chairman, the admin vice chair or the registrar.

The discussion of the Service Awards is in our Guide to Operations
