Greetings! This email blast (which started before the name of email blast) originated to remind swimmers about upcoming event and deadlines. I think there were about 100 people on the first mailing, then it grew - so now there are about 16,000 on the list. Much time was spent in thinking about what to call it - at least 30 seconds of intense thought and it was more to have a noun to identify the email. One swimmer suggested the "Pacific Update." This has always been an informal newsletter - so I will try that for a while, but I am open to suggestions.
There are two upcoming meets, the Fog City Quadrathon and the Salinas Splash and Dash. The Splash and Dash is one of three new Pacific Masters meets this year - and this one is very close to our swimmers in Monterey, San Benito and Santa Cruz counties and could use our support.
For our distance swimmers the Hour Swim must be swum in the next eight days.
| MEMO One Direction |
Team MEMO lip-synchs its way through One Direction's "What Makes You Beautiful." Masters Swimmers from Marcia's Enthusiastic Masters of Oakland (MEMO) show their special talents. Not bad for people who don't even know who One Direction is (That is what the direction arrow is for isn't it?).
Fun, Fitness & Competition
Kind regards,
-michael

Coach of the Year
The It is almost time to start selecting the 2013 Pacific Masters Coach of the Year. It is a way for your club to honor your coach by nominating them for the Coach of the Year award. The rules are in the Pacific Masters Guide to Operations, but on the coaches page there is a summary of what needs to be done and the criteria used. One important item is that it is one nomination letter along with a maximum of four support letters. The more criteria items that you cover in your nomination letter, the higher the ranking when reviewing the coaches.
