2001- 2010

Greetings!

Upcoming events:

The first short course meters meet of the season is being held this Saturday in Modesto. This has always been a fun meet. It is a limited entry meet so if you want to go, sign up now.

On Sunday is the Hot August Chill at Donner Lake. The "chill" is at the west end of Donner Lake. Between races, one has a great  view of the Sierra Nevada and the beautiful Donner Lake. The unofficial Donner Lake water temperature on 4 August was 69 at the surface and 68 three feet down.

Pacific Masters Swimming welcomes anyone who would like to gain and maintain fitness through swimming and encourages programs to foster this mission.

Pacific Masters
by the numbers

Pacific Masters is about one percent ahead of last year in the total number of swimmers registered. Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers whose work is the real cause for Masters Swimming growth. Below is how our clubs have done year to year (clubs who have more than 100 registered swimmers). Pacific Masters swimmers 2011: 10,336
2010: 10197 (on 13 August 2010).

Congratulation to Stanford Masters and Tim Edmunds as Stanford Masters has surpassed the 500 registered swimmers mark. Only the fourth Pacific Masters Team to do that and the fifth in the United States.

Other things

There was a big article in the New York Times on "Preparing Triathlets for the Chaos of Open Water." Open water swimmers might find it of interest.

I try to respond to all correspondence that I receive. If I don't respond, please let me let me know. Given that, I realize that we will not always agree on things. That said, if any know knows "Susan Riser" self described "athlete." Please let him now that he is arrogant and a coward and can't even get my name right. (Thank you - I feel much better now.)
