Swim Across America

Swim Across America, Inc., [SAA] is dedicated to raising money and awareness for cancer research, prevention and treatment through swimming- related events. With the help of hundreds of volunteers nationwide and past and current Olympians, SAA is helping find a cure for cancer through athleticism, community outreach and direct service.

The San Francisco Bay Area Swim Across America is looking to raise $300,000. The San Francisco Bay swim is an SAA favorite. Swimmers take a boat from Pier 9 to Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge, a great scenic tour of the bay with time to bond with friends, old and new.  They will jump in under the Golden Gate Bridge, a dramatic and unique entry point rarely experienced.  Swimmers will head into Crissy Field Beach, a total of around 1.5 miles. A great way to swim and raise funds for cancer research.
Orinda Aquatic helps
Special Needs kids

Orinda Aquatics is working with REACH (Resources, Education, Activites, Choomunity and Houseing) to raise money for special needs swimming. There is a Aquathon at the Hercules Swimming Pool Sunday 18 September.

The groups goals are to provide safe, quality living environments where our residents learn self efficiency and live with dignity and respect. They strive to bring significantly more joy to the lives of the developmentally challenged of the West Contra Costa and Northern Alameda counties.
