BRIDGE BUILDERS MINISTRY

Once again we will make a concentrated effort to continue to build bridges to the 3 schools we have adopted this school year:  Wedgwood Elementary, Cross Keys Middle and Hazelwood Central High. We will deliver treats to the teachers and staff on a monthly basis and prayer walk the campuses once a month.  Will you help make this the best year yet in building bridges in Jesus name?

Boiler Room Prayer Ministry
Would you be willing
to spend a Sunday every few weeks praying for the Pastor, the Sermon, the people of Cross Keys and those who are guests with us WHILE the Pastor is preaching the sermon?  We're calling this the "Boiler Room" Prayer Ministry.  If you would like to be a part, contact Jerry Sharp (546-8244).
Dear

In the midst of the continuing unrest in Ferguson, let me encourage you this morning to think about the children.  It was announced last night that the Ferguson-Florissant School District has cancelled school until next Monday, August 24.  Wedgwood Elementary School and Cross Keys Middle School are both a part of the Ferguson-Florissant School District.  We have had the privilege to minister to the teachers and staff monthly through our treats and to the schools at large through our prayer walking.  As God would ordain, our regular night to prayer walk the schools is tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 20.  I have to confess, most months this is our LOWEST ATTENDED Wednesday night.  Many are hurting, confused, wanting to know what to do or how to help.  Let me encourage you, strongly, to come out and join for this time of prayer at these schools.  It is obvious that this is a difficult time and all the wisdom of man will be for nothing if God is not in it.  Let us join together to pray, tomorrow night, 6:30 - 7:30 PM.  Meet at the church at 6:30 PM.

In His Love

Pastor Jeff

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL?

COMING THIS FALL TO CROSS KEYS:

Guys Thursday Night Football

6:30 - 10:00 PM

Thursday nights, Sept. 4 - Oct 23, 2014

8 Weeks of football, fellowship &

Bible Study!

Guys, here's the plan - lets get together each Thursday night for 8 weeks.  Let's eat some food, hang out and watch some football.

Oh yeah, and let's do a Bible study together BEFORE the game each week.

Pastor Eric Mason has written a great book, "Manhood Restored: How the Gospel Makes Men Whole".  Each week we'll read a chapter before Thursday night's gathering, we'll watch a teaching video from Pastor Eric Mason, discuss the biblical truths brought out, pray together and then enjoy a night of food and football!

Sound like something you'd have some interest in being a part of?

Here's what we need right now:

1.  A place - we'd prefer to do this in a home.  Would someone be willing to open up their home each Thursday for this gathering?

2.  A count - are you interested in attending?  If so, we need to know so we can order books now.  Sign up on your Connection Card.

3.  A plan

    6:30 - Eat dinner

    6:45 - 7:25    Bible Study

    7:35 - Kickoff

Stay to the end or take off early as your schedule dictates!

4.  A plate - Each week the meat will be provided but everything else is up to us to bring - chips, sides, beverages, etc.

New Church Covenant Preamble

As members of this church, we commit to love each other, submit to Scripture, meet together, worship together and alone, form Gospel-centered relationships, remain united, watch over one another, give cheerfully, die to self, walk in holiness, be trustworthy, pray faithfully, gracefully embrace one another, and continue in Christ no matter where we go.

New Church Covenant

Church Covenant     Please Note:  Statements in (bold) refer to preamble

We will engage to walk together in Christian love through the power of the Holy Spirit. (love each other)

We submit to Scripture as our final authority, and reject all heretical beliefs and practices. (submit to Scripture)

Unless providentially hindered, we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, but will faithfully attend the church's gatherings for worship, prayer, study, and fellowship, and will use our spiritual gifts for the common good. (meet together)

We resolve to practice personal and family worship, to train our children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (worship together and alone), and intentionally engage relationships based on the Gospel to seek salvation for our family, friends, neighbors, co-workers, acquaintances, and of all the world. (form Gospel-centered relationships)
We pledge to faithfully participate in the ordinances of the church, and endeavor to attain unity of mind in doctrine.(remain united)  We will submit to the church's discipline upon ourselves and lovingly assume our responsibility to participate in the discipline of other members, as taught in Scripture.(watch over one another)
We will contribute cheerfully and regularly to this church for its ministry and expenses, the relief of the poor, the cause of reformation and revival, and the spread of the Gospel throughout all nations. (give cheerfully)
We will strive by God's grace and power to live as Christ in the world; and denying ungodliness and worldly lusts we will seek to fulfill our calling to lead holy lives and to be salt and light.
(die to self)

We will be just and honest in our dealings and faithful in our responsibilities and commitments.

(be trustworthy)

We will abide by the standards of sexual purity, ethical integrity, and spiritual fidelity as taught in Scripture. (walk in holiness)

We will remember one another in prayer, watch over one another in brotherly love, help one another in sickness and distress, and cultivate Christian compassion and courtesy. (pray faithfully)

Believing that the pursuit of peace with others and personal holiness accompany true faith in Christ, we will be slow to take offense, always eager to seek the reconciliation Christ commands, and will work to preserve the unity of the Spirit. (gracefully embrace one another)

We promise that if, in the providence of God, we leave this church we will do so in peace and we will diligently seek to unite with another Christian church where we can continue to carry out the spirit and principles of Scripture. (continue in Christ no matter where we go)

Statement of Faith

We believe in Jesus Christ, who was crucified, died, was buried, and rose again three days later from the grave.  We are a new creation in Christ saved by His blood and not by our works.  In faith, we believe baptism is a demonstration of one's personal commitment to our Lord Jesus Christ as a disciple of His.  We were dead in our sins and are now made alive in Christ.

Conclusion

Therefore, as individual members of the body of Christ, we actively and joyfully come together to follow this covenant through the faith confirmed by God's Spirit and revealed by His Holy Scriptures.
