Hello there !
When you are eating a meal, do you go straight to your favorite or leave it until you've finished the 'other' food?
Do you save the good china, linens and soaps for your guests or use them every day?
When you read, do you look for the juicy parts first or do you go from start to finish?
We all have a way that we do life, what's yours ? I'm just curious since I am the type that likes to have dessert first and then the real food. I tell my 6 & 7 year old nieces that when they get to be my age, they can have dessert first too. I say this because I have to really break some deeply imbedded practices of doing things someone else's way. Eating dessert first is a metaphor for how I would like to live my life. Why do I always have to put the good stuff last? Well, I don't.
I remember when my mother used to make me stay in on a Saturday until the house was cleaned. I decided at a very young age that I was never going to delay fun for a clean house. And if you come to my house that statement will be confirmed! And I have never regretted it.
I am sure there are some areas where patience is going to serve me. But is putting off the good stuff really behavioral modification or is it deprivation, or is it meaningless?
What are we waiting for? I don't want to drudge through life or sacrifice until the good stuff comes. I want to enjoy it all, starting now. I think some of us have adopted an old philosophy and therefore postponed our 'good stuff'.
What about you ? What are you doing to have your good stuff now?
Enjoy it all , starting today.
