ARE YOU THE COMMON DENOMINATOR?

Hi there !

common denominatorDid you ever hear a friend talk about all the worthless partners they had in their lives or the bosses that were all unfair? Could it be true that all those people were that bad? Possibly. However, I'd like to think that the person who is the common denominator in all the scenarios might have a part they plan in the upset. What do you think ?

I remember years ago having a huge breakthrough after having several people rattle my patience in one day. I seemed to be angry at everyone. And of course I was RIGHT and they were, well, they were all WRONG!  When I looked back at my day and realized that I was the common denominator in all the angry occurrences, I had to take a good look at myself and the part I played in it all. It didn't feel good knowing at some level I created this even if I couldn't figure out how or why.

That's when I made up my mind to live by a new philosophy. It went like this: if one person upsets me in a day, maybe, just maybe it's them. But if more than one person upsets me in a day, chances are it's ME.

Nowadays I figure it's always ME, because I am responsible for my own anger, but I still like to give myself that margin just to feel better. This practice has helped me to stop blaming everyone for everything and to stop and look at myself and my reactions, behaviors and attitude.

So , where in your life are you the common denominator? Where do you blame, get upset or shut down? You may want to try taking responsibility for the part YOU are playing and things and people just might change.

Have a blameless day

Enthusiastically,

Fran
