ARE YOU SERIOUS?

Hello !

I know I talk about this often, and I feel it's an important topic. I see so many people out there taking life so seriously. I know there are serious situations and we need to address them as such. But are you too serious in life? Have you forgotten to laugh at the stupid stuff? Are you seeing your world through dark glasses?

Have you ever tried seeing the bright side of everything? I mean everything. To a serious person, this may seem absurd, but to someone who keeps her sanity by lightening up, it's mandatory survival. I can't afford to take all the incidents in my life seriously or I would be miserable.

I find myself joking at dropping a glass that shatters in the kitchen. Did you do that? I say to my cat as he watches from the other room. I get a flat tire on my way to an important meeting and begin talking to the tire to ask why it doesn't want me to go? Goofy? Of course, but a heck of a lot easier on me than cursing at it and making it wrong.

If you are serious because of money, illness, divorce - know that there are those who have had their best times during their worst times. All you have to do is look for the lightness of it. Everything doesn't have to be a lesson, or hurt, or be so darned serious. Have you ever seen someone who breaks a nail and acts like it's the worst day ever? I've broken thousands. I was upset by a few, but the rest are just breaks. They happen.

The next time you are in serious mode , see if you can get yourself out of it by making light in some way or another. Talk to yourself, ask what could be funny about this? One of my favorite scenes from The Money Pit with Tom Hanks and Shelly Long is when he finally stopped taking it all so serious. Enjoy this clip.
