Hello !
Years ago when I was an active Realtor I would occasionally bump up against a very emotional client. Someone who was reacting to certain situations. They were heated for sure and would come to me with all that energy. At first I would get upset along with them. 'You're kidding, they did what?" or I can't believe this happened, I am so upset".
One day I realized that this was not an effective way to support my client. They did not need me to commiserate with them, they needed me to support them in the solution. From then on I became someone who would manage a situation or troubleshoot instead of someone who would fall apart. I loved the results and I loved the calming effect it had on my clients. All they needed was for someone to ground them, tell them everything was going to be alright and to take the reins in some cases. where in your life do you commiserate with those around you? Do you fall apart or do you soothe the situation and provide strength and leadership? Our friends, family, colleagues, children and significant others need a solid place to go when they fall apart. Who do you want to be when that happens? I like knowing that my people come to me to hold a peaceful place and not become hysterical. Decide which side of the fence you want to be on and then follow through . If you choose to be the rock, you will probably find great pleasure in being that for others. Chances are they will respect you immensely for this as well.
