Hi !
I heard many years ago that the actor Larry Hagman did not speak at all on Sundays. Whether it was true or not, I loved the idea and adopted it for myself. I've given it many names over the years from having a Larry day to an LH day (for Larry Hagman) to being 'unplugged' to Silent Sunday. Whatever the name, it represents being in silence for a full day or a portion to regroup, replenish and rejuvenate. What does one do on a silent Sunday? It's up to you, but I do my best to stay away from any talking (even to myself), stay away from technology, phones and people and try to be with just Fran. It's not always easy to do this. Sometimes I just can't slow myself down or other times people won't accept my being unavailable. After doing this for years, however, several have implemented Silent Sunday into their own life because they can truly feel the benefits. We seldom have the opportunity to just be with our own thoughts or no thoughts at all. We don't get to unwind fully or rest our brains. We are always thinking, talking, fixing and creating. Now we can actually create the time to reset our minds to zero and start fresh. If your life is busy and you don't have time or money to get away, create a mini get-away in your own home. Take a Silent Sunday and care for yourself with meditation, journaling, naps, spiritual reading, nature or anything that has you reconnect to yourself. It's the cheapest most loving gift you can give to yourself and those around you will benefit when you are more centered, relaxed and in better spirits. Hush Hush ! Enthusiastically, Fran
