Hello !
I often refer to a statement I heard a long time ago which still has a huge impact on my communication skills. The statement is:
DON'T SAY BLAH BLAH BLAH, WHEN YOU CAN SAY BLAH.
Meaning, if you can say it in 20 words than don't use 50. Pretty powerful isn't it?
How many of us ramble on and on to get our point across, when simplifying our words would do a better job and keep the attention of others. Being from a New York Italian family I am used to having to talk and talk to feel heard. As if BLAH BLAH BLAH was going to interest anyone? This was a very hard lesson for me, but one that continues to demonstrate effective results in my personal life and my career.
There is so much power in the elegance of communication . People perceive you differently and you seem to get more respect when you collect your thoughts and simplify your words.
, Where in your life and with whom can you exercise the BLAH principle?
Keeping it Short & Sweet,
Fran
