THE COALITION CONNECTION
November 6, 2015
Dear NCGS Community,

NCGS and the Young Women's Leadership Network are collaborating on an exciting project that will be unveiled at the 2016 Global Forum on Girls' Education. We are developing an inspirational video to present at the opening of the conference, and we need your participation!

The video will capture the perspectives of students at all-girls schools around the world to inspire conference attendees with the power of girls' education and leadership. We are asking you, our member schools, to please contribute to this exciting project by inviting your students to answer a few pre-selected questions and share their thoughts about the importance of educating girls globally.

Please click here for details about preparing students to participate in the video, filming instructions, and sending in submissions to a shared Google Drive. To help you with the process, students at The Young Women's Leadership School Astoria created an easy-to-follow instructional video.

Video submissions are due by December 1, 2015.

The Global Forum on Girls' Education, being held February 7-9, 2016 at the New York Marriott Marquis, will bring together leading educators, researchers, advocates, authors, practitioners, and related-industry leaders from across the globe to exchange best practices and innovative approaches for academic excellence and the healthy development of girls. Don't miss out! Early Bird rates end in just one month. Click here to register today.

We look forward to seeing you in New York and hope to see your students on the "big screen!"

Regards,
Megan

New The Girls School Advantage: By The Numbers Video Now Available
NCGS is pleased to provided our members a newly enhanced version of The Girls' School Advantage: By the Numbers video. Fifty percent of the research statistics have been replaced with more recent findings, photos with student testimonials added, and the entire presentation is set to new music.

A presentation of research highlights, this five and half minute-long animated slide show helps make the case for the unique benefits of all-girls schools by providing quantitative and qualitative information from third-party experts. This video is available free of charge to our member schools as an advocacy outreach resource and electronic companion to the NCGS family of print publications.
NCGS encourages our members to share The Girls' School Advantage: By the Numbers through social media via the NCGS YouTube channel and to download the presentation to add to your school's website. In addition, it is an extremely effective tool for several school departments. Here are just a few of the ways members can maximize use of this new resource:
  • Heads can share it for inspiration at an all-staff/faculty meeting.
  • Admissions can run it on a continuous loop in the background during open houses, new parent orientations, back-to-school nights, etc. and play it on a laptop during recruiting fairs.
  • Alumnae Relations can air it at regional alumnae receptions and during reunions.
  • Development can show it to prospective donors to help make the case for the effectiveness of an all-girls education.
  • Communications can use the data and information included in the presentation to draft Op-Eds and make the case for girls' schools in the media.
To receive access to the video download page for member school use, please email Olivia Haas.
Call for Proposals: DC-Metro Area Educating Girls Symposium

Following successful events in New York City and Los Angeles, NCGS is excited to bring its Educating Girls Symposium to the Mid-Atlantic region!

Educating Girls Symposium
Developing Leadership Through Wellness and Mindfulness
April 15, 2016
McLean, VA (DC-Metro Area)
Featured speaker: Rachel Simmons

The NCGS Educating Girls Symposiums are professional development opportunities for educators to convene and exchange best practices for teaching and working with girls. Developing Leadership Through Wellness and Mindfulness is the current topic with dialogue revolving around the intersection of leadership, resilience, and wellness. Featured speaker Rachel Simmons will discuss why we must define girls' leadership in a way that is directly linked to the practice of self-care and self-compassion. She will encourage attendees to examine how and why this critical link is too often overlooked or ignored in educational and extracurricular settings. Participants will explore these concepts further in peer-led breakout sessions and brainstorm strategies to incorporate a more expansive vision of "leadership from within" into their day-to-day work with girls.

A Call for Proposals is open until December 14, 2015. We invite you to submit a proposal to present on your expertise within the areas of leadership, wellness, and/or mindfulness. Click here for the Call for Proposals overview, guidelines, and instructions. To access the online application, click here.

The Symposium will combine theory and practice to help schools enhance the educational journey for girls in girls' and coed schools, thereby improving the experience for all learners. The event is for all educators -- heads of school, administrators, faculty, counselors -- who work with girls in grades PK-12.

Reminder: New York Girls' School NET Event Registration
To kick off its 25th Anniversary, NCGS is hosting a Girls' School NET: Networking & Empowering Together reception in New York during the 2016 Global Forum on Girls' Education.

Girls' School NET: Networking & Empowering Together
Monday, February 8, 2016
6:00 - 7:30 PM
New York Marriott Marquis

The Girls' School NET is a unique opportunity for our member schools to connect with their alumnae and fellow educators from other NCGS member schools.

For advancement offices, Girls' School NET receptions are ready-made, cost-effective regional alumnae events. Participation fees are based on how many guests attend from your school. We encourage you to invite your alumnae to make three powerful connections in one evening: engage with their alma mater, unite with classmates in their region, and network with local girls' school alumnae -- a worldwide resource of nearly 700,000 graduates of NCGS schools.

Girls' School NET events are also a great way for administrators and educators to connect with peers working in a common capacity across the U.S., Canada, and abroad from a network of 200 NCGS member schools.

December 14 is the deadline to inform NCGS if your school will be inviting alumnae to the reception. You do not need to commit to a certain number of alumnae guests until January 15, 2016, after you have completed your RSVP process.

If you are interested in inviting your alumnae to join you at the Girls' School NET reception, please email Eliza McGehee with "NYC NET 2016" as the subject. Click here for pricing information and more details.
