  • Teaching Best Practices
These categories now include expandable sections allowing you to easily scroll through the report titles by topic area and quickly access key information such as principal researchers, affiliated institution, year of the study, and research synopsis.

The NCGS Research Reports is the place to go to:
  • find the best archived information on girls' education and their healthy development;
  • quickly and easily access the latest research findings on effective teaching practices for girls; and
  • access existing data on the outcomes of girls' schools and female behavior related to academic risk-taking, self-esteem, leadership, and interest in STEM/STEAM.
As a leading advocate for girls' education, it is our pleasure to provide this enhanced and expanded resource to our members. Research is vital to helping NCGS and your school better advocate for the unique benefits of girls' schools.

Be a #GirlHero: Celebrate International Day of the Girl
Sunday, October 11, 2015, marks the fourth annual International Day of the Girl. Join the global movement to celebrate girls' rights!

#IDG2015, #DayOfTheGirl, and #GirlPossible are trending on Twitter, showcasing the power of change we can bring to the world by advocating together. While simple, the notion that girls' rights are human rights has become a universal truth that galvanizes us and propels us forward.

Join the conversation and show your support. Give a social media shout out to the #GirlHero in your life this International Day of the Girl to celebrate girl power everywhere. Together, we can light up social media feeds with stories of girl heroes around the world. It's as easy as...
  1. Select a girl who inspires you -- your #GirlHero
  2. Post a photo of her on social media, tag her, and write why you think she is a #GirlHero
Let's come together to support and celebrate girls. It's what girls deserve, and it's what our world needs. Click here for more information about the #GirlHero campaign sponsored by Girl Up.

Be sure to let NCGS know how your school celebrated! Send event recaps, photos, and links to posted videos to Olivia Haas.

Philanthropy Lessons for #GivingTuesday
The first Tuesday after Thanksgiving has become a national movement known as #GivingTuesday. This event kicks off the true season of giving by encouraging charitable donations worldwide. #GivingTuesday is a special way for communities to support non-profits and take advantage of the speed of spreading the word through social media as well as the ease of donating via the internet.

The Guide to Giving curriculum, created by The Nightingale-Bamford School, aims to assist educators in grades K-12 to prepare their students and school communities for #GivingTuesday. This series of nine lessons, which can be adapted for various age groups and classroom schedules, provides educators concrete strategies to engage students in the twin tasks of cultivating a genuine commitment to service and energizing an entire school community around the idea of #GivingTuesday.

Marymount (NY) to Host EdCamp on Global Education

Marymount School of New York is hosting its inaugural EdCampGlobalEd on October 24, 2015.

Do you want to make global connections, promote global literacy, or wish to engage in a conversation about global programs? EdCampGlobalEd is a free unconference about teaching and learning from a global perspective. You will connect with peers locally and have the opportunity to interact with students and teachers virtually from across the globe.

For anyone who has never been to an EdCamp, you might be surprised to see there is no schedule when you arrive. The schedule is generated the day of the event based on topics of interest to the attendees. To lead a session, all you need is an idea, question or conversation related to global education.

EdCampGlobalEd is open to K-12 faculty and administrators, parents, and students. Click here for more information and to register.
