Dear NCGS Community,
Welcome back to a new school year!
As you prepare your campuses, classrooms, and lesson plans for the start of the school year, NCGS is pleased to share with you new and enhanced online resources.
A selection of presentation materials from the 2015 NCGS Conference, From STEM to STEAM: Girls' Schools Leading the Way is now available at ncgs.org. We are sure you will find inspiring and helpful ideas you can implement on your own campuses among the diverse array of handouts, including materials from pre-conference, keynote, breakout, INSPIRE!, and hands-on sessions. A permanent link to our new "STEM to STEAM Conference Materials" archive has been added to the NCGS Quick Links box on the left.
If you presented at From STEM to STEAM and would like your materials added to the online archive, please email them to Jen Shakeshaft with the subject line "2015 NCGS Conference Materials Submission."
There was a tremendous response to the session "Transgender Students at Girls' Schools: A Training and Discussion," presented during the final day of the conference. The materials referenced during this session are now permanently available as part of the NCGS " Transgender Resources" webpage. We are continually adding new materials to this library of resources to help our member schools navigate this complex issue.
We wish each of you a successful 2015-2016 school year, and we look forward to continuing to support our member schools with innovative programming and resources.
Regards,
Megan Murphy
Executive Director

Reminder: Final Session of NCGS & OSG "Introduction to Girls' Schools" Online Course for Faculty
|
|
Limited spots are still available for the final session (October 13-November 6) of "Introduction to Girls' Schools," an online professional development opportunity for faculty offered by NCGS and the Online School for Girls (OSG). This four-week long course provides instructional insight to all teachers new to girls' schools, be they seasoned educators or new to the profession. In order for your newly hired faculty to thrive and succeed at their first all-girls school, it is necessary to provide them with approaches to teaching and learning that are most effective for girls. "Introduction to Girls' Schools" allows participants to connect and collaborate with each other to explore the possible implications of research on the classroom environment. Educators will also discuss ways to create a collaborative, student-centered learning space, including how technology can help achieve these goals. Ultimately, teachers will gain a clearer understanding of what it means to work in an all-girls school and will come away with ideas of how to create a classroom atmosphere and curriculum that maximizes how girls learn. Click here to register and for more information about the course, including fees and comments from past participants.
