THE COALITION CONNECTION
May 29, 2015
Dear NCGS Community,

Where can you find the best archived information on girls' education and their healthy development? How can you quickly and easily access the latest research findings on effective teaching practices for girls? What outcome data exists on the unique outcomes of girls' schools and female behavior related to academic risk-taking, self-esteem, leadership, and interest in STEM/STEAM?

It is with great excitement that we unveil an extremely valuable resource for our member schools. The new Research Reports section of the NCGS website is an online archive of 70 reports related to girls' schools and girls' education from the past 15 years. Offering a well-balanced variety of research topics, the reports are grouped by the following categories:

  • Athletics
  • Behavior & Risk-Taking
  • Gender Gap/Stereotypes
  • Health/Wellness
  • History/Perceptions of Girls' Schools
  • Leadership
  • Policy
  • Readiness for College/Real World
  • Self-Esteem/Confidence
  • Single-Sex vs. Coed Outcomes
  • STEM/STEAM
  • Teaching Best Practices
The National Coalition of Girls' Schools has a deep and rich history embedded in research on girls' schools. Research findings can give our schools important talking points for advocacy outreach and marketing literature. More importantly, data allows us to situate the value of girls' schools upon a theoretical and pedagogical base, which helps families better appreciate the positive and unique outcomes of an all-girls education. The Coalition conducts NCGS-directed research projects with academic partners, collaborates with researchers working on issues of importance to girls' education and girls' schools, and tracks prevailing research to keep member schools up-to-date with the latest findings. The Research Reports archive is a compiled result of these efforts.

As a leading advocate for girls' education with a distinct commitment to the transformative power of all-girls schools, it is our pleasure to provide this robust new resource to our member schools. Research is vital to helping NCGS and your school better understand and advocate for the  benefits of girls' schools.

Regards,

Megan
