With the days getting longer, and the official start of spring just around the corner, I can't help but look ahead with excitement to the summer when I hope you will join me at our annual conference, Launching Future Leaders: Preparing Today's Girls To Shape Tomorrow's World.   Planning is well underway for what promises to be an innovative, inspiring an2013 Annual Conference Logod collaborative few days where heads, assistant heads, deans, marketing, admissions, advancement, faculty and more can come together to strategize on how girls' schools can best develop girls with the confidence, skills and convictions to become the next generation of female leaders. NCGS Board President Trudy Hall's White Paper on Single-Sex Education
Trudy Hall Trudy Hall, Head at Emma Willard School
and President of the NCGS Board of Trustees, has written a white paper on the value of single-sex education, entitled "This One's for the Girls." Citing research, she presents the advantages of girls' schools, including "[i]n girls' schools, girls are more likely to be focused on academics first" and "teachers in girls' schools are focused solely on girls-how they learn, how they play, how they create friendships, what they need to be successful." "Building Your Competitive Brand Advantage" Leadership Summit

The Association of Independent School Admission Professionals (AISAP) invites NCGS members to "Building Your Competitive Brand Advantage," a brand and value proposition leadership summit where you will: 

  • Develop a deep understanding of branding best practices through inspirational real world examples.

  • Identify processes through hands-on exercises and mission examination that will make your school and community stand out. 

  • Experience replicable exercises to lead internal brand discussions with your stakeholders.

  • Learn the tools you need to create your own brand action plan

Nominate a Teacher for a $10,000 Grant and the MAKERS: Excellence in Education Award

On February 26, 2013, MAKERS premiered the documentary, MAKERS: Women Who Make America which chronicles the last 50 years of the women's movement through first hand accounts of trailblazers, leaders and opponents. MAKERS now wants to highlight women that are making a difference in the educational community and developing the next generation of MAKERS. One female teacher will be selected to receive a $10,000 grant and the honor of the first MAKERS: Excellence in Education Award.  All entries must be received by March 22, 2013.
