WTBOA Sales Graduates in the News
Four-year-old Among the Stars, who finished third in the 2014 Comcast SportsNet Handicap at Emerald Downs last September, took a March 22 six-furlong allowance race by one-length at Turf Paradise, ridden by Juan Gutierrez to expand her record to 4-2-5 from 17 starts and $71,431 in earnings. The daughter of Harbor the Gold-Sweethrtofsigmachi, by General Meeting, who was bred in Washington by Dr. Duane and Susan Hopp, now races for Roy and Tammy Brewer, Kany Levine and Ken Nugent. In the race following Among the Star's win, six-year-old Just Have'n Fun, won her eighth race and upped her earnings to $90,608. The daughter of Lucky Acres' Matty G-Just an Angel, by Demons Begone, was bred in Washington by Renee Larrabee.
Trainer Mark Glatt and partners G. Jarnig, M. Medley, C. Medley, R. Orr and E. Schweiger's Spin Forty, a three-year-old gelding by Hard Spun out of stakes winner Sweet Fourty, by Sweetsouthernsaint, bred in Washington by Debbie and Rick Pabst, took a seven-furlong $30,000 maiden claiming race by 2 1/2 lengths on March 21 at Santa Anita in his first start since last August at Del Mar.
Pebble Beach Baby, a five-year-old daughter of Rock Hard Ten bred by Jill Heerensperger in Kentucky, won the $60,000 Sis City Stakes at Aqueduct on March 21. The half-sister to $172,628 stakes winner Stealth Attack, $279,745 graded stakes-placed Yacht Spotter and $162,559 stakes-placed Skyrider improved her record to 6-6-4 from 29 starts and has $189,216 in earnings. Her dam, Sarna, by Son of Briartic, was a 1997 WTBOA summer sale graduate bred in Washington by Rick and Debbie Pabst.

In a letter dated March 23, 2015, Les Bois Park Racing has sent a notice to their employees that layoffs will begin the end of May and that the Idaho track will close on June 30 after a ban on the previously approved instant-racing betting terminals was passed by the Idaho Senate with the state House due to vote before the end of March.
Four-year-old Lady Luciano earned her first stakes-placement after the daughter of Frost Giant finished third in the $78,400 Karakorum Elektra Stakes at Aqueduct on March 21. The $158,324 earner is out of Delaware Park and Golden Gate Fields allowance winner Miriam's Song, a Washington-bred daughter of the recently deceased Peterhof. Lady Luciano's second dam, Washington-bred stakes winner Exit's Baby, is also the dam of 2002 Washington champion and Longacres Mile (G3) winner Sabertooth.
Five-year-old Charismatic Pulpit, a son of Pulpit out of 2005 Emerald Downs champion and stakes winner Karis Makaw, who is a Charismatic-sired half-sister to stakes winner and Washington sire Nationhood, won a allowance at Mountaineer Park on March 23 to give him his fourth win and $108,983 in earnings.
Wesley Ward is planning to take Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner Hootenanny to Newmarket for the May 2 Two Thousand Guineas (G1). The Selah-born trainer is thinking about taking Dave Mowat's Grade 1 winner Sunset Glow to England as well.
