CSS closed on the 4th of July - Join us at the parade!
Chicago Swim School will be closed Thursday only for the 4th of July holiday. Please note: Classes will take place as scheduled Friday and Saturday. We'd love to kick off the 4th of July holiday with you. Join us to march in the Arlington Heights parade! We will be meeting at 10am, which is when the parade starts. Join us by the parking lot across from St. Peter's Lutheran Church on the Southwest corner of Highland Ave. and Olive St. The parade starts at Dunton and Oakton, and the numbers will be chalked on the street from there. We are #55. We will have activities to keep the kids entertained until we step off. The parade steps off from Dunton & Oakton travels south on Dunton to Miner and the east to Recreation Park. We expect to be done by 12:30. What to wear: CSS T-shirt, swimwear, or patriotic wear. What to bring: Water, fans, etc. If your kids have scooters, please feel free to bring them along. We will also have some water available. We will have candy and fliers to hand out to the crowd. If you have any questions, please contact us at info@chicagoswimschool.com or (847) 870-7946. Thank you - We're looking forward to a fun morning to kick off the 4th of July!

Next week is Safety Week
Week five of our swim session is Safety Week. During this week, we provide intensive focus on safety and survival skills. The focus varies by level, but all students spend some time in the water without their goggles to help eliminate the fear or panic that could accompany falling into water unexpectedly. Depending on age and class level, students will work on skills varying from floats and submersions to treading water, using life jackets, and swimming with clothes on. With summer in full swing and families participating in water activities, this is a great time for all students to review how to make themselves safer in and around the water. Because this is special curriculum, there are no make-ups being scheduled for next week, July 8th - 13th.

CPR certification Sunday, July 14th
Thanks to everyone who joined us last month for CPR certification. We continually have a great response to this class and have our next session coming up next weekend! We offer CPR classes for only $25 at our Arlington Heights Facility. Have kids that babysit? This is a great class for them, too!
We encourage everyone to add CPR to their emergency response plan to keep your swimmers and families safe.
Our next class is Sunday, July 14th, 4:30 - 7:00 p.m. with our amazing Heartsaver instructor Kim Albright. You will receive a certification card good for 2 years for child CPR, adult CPR, and AED certification.
How to sign up:
We ask that you pay when you register. The class is open to the general public, ages 9 and up, and does fill up quickly. Because we want to ensure as many people as possible can participate, we have the following refund agreement:
- Cancellations 48 hours prior will be provided a full refund
- Cancellations 24 hours before will be given credit toward a future class
We hope to see you there!

Be safe this holiday!
The 4th of July holiday often brings with it vacation, swimming, and other water sports. This is a great time to reinforce safety reminders with all of your family members along with any caretakers for your children. Remember:
1. Never swim alone - Everyone should use the buddy system. 2. Always ask permission before getting into the water. 3. No running and pushing - You can hurt yourself and others around you. 4. Be safe around ALL kinds of water - drowning can occur in as little as two inches of water. For some great tips about water safety in pools, at beach or lake, and at the waterpark, check out this article from Kids Health.
