Two Initiatives from the Schaumburg Conference

Each CALEA Conference consistently provides unique opportunities for professional and personal growth. Through participation in meaningful training, attendees gain information related to the benefits associated with the application of current technology, reconnect with colleagues, develop new relationships, and take time to reflect upon the critical responsibilities of public safety service. This was certainly was true of the July 2014 conference held in Schaumburg, Illinois. The CALEA Commissioners, staff and all in attendance are grateful for the exceptional work of the Illinois Police Accreditation Coalition (I-PAC). The time, talent, commitment, and energy of the I-PAC membership was critical to the successful conference and clearly made a difference. Read on

Executive Director's Note

W. Craig
Hartley, Jr.

Unlock the Key to Electronic Assessments:

During the assessment process, assessors should have access to all relevant parts of the agency as well as to all the policies and procedures and accreditation files. During the off-site review process, agencies utilizing the PowerDMS™ Standards assessment module need to make available to the assessors all the accreditation files; not just certain ones. This will assist the assessors with obtaining pertinent information prior to visiting the agency. Many questions can be answered during the off-site review by accessing and cross-referencing other files, allowing the assessors time and the necessary information to conduct a quality assessment during the visit.
