Wanted: Applicants Committed to Making a Sustainable Difference

J. Grayson Robinson

Although current economic conditions appear to be slowly rebounding from low returns on investment, benefit reductions, layoffs, budget reductions, and extraordinarily high unemployment; across the CALEA family, we all continue to focus upon the critical strategic responsibility of recruiting and retaining the right people who apply for a public safety position. Of the thousands and thousands of individuals who will apply for an opportunity to serve with a CALEA Accredited organization, only a few will actually meet the demanding criteria required of those selected to make a difference for those served. In short, people participate in those things that are valued-added and make for an enhanced quality of life, better organization, or provide advancement within professional venues. MORE
Accreditation Changes Officials' Perception of Police Department

Captain Thomas Reinholt

Accreditation Manager

Evesham Township (NJ) Police Department

One of the many benefits experienced by the Evesham, New Jersey Police Department as a result of CALEA Accreditation is that the elected officials' perception of the police department has improved immensely, as has the department's relationship with the governing body and the community. And, it was accomplished in a relatively short period of time. The department received its CALEA Recognition Through Alliance award through the New Jersey State Chiefs of Police in 2007 and it immediately began the self-assessment phase for CALEA Law Enforcement Accreditation, achieving the award in November 2011.
