For most people that I speak with, the last quarter of the year is very hectic - holiday parties, family gatherings, out of town guest, gift buying and sharing, eating, eating, and more eating! By January 1st, I always say the same thing - why did I eat so many cookies etc.

This year I decided to treat myself to the most relaxing, rejuvenating 4 days at the Canyon Ranch Spa in Lenox, MA. Traveling for me is a time to soak up all that is around me and allows me to be inspired and more creative. I always come home with a new idea I can't wait to implement for the right client. Let me share with you some highlights and perhaps you'll decide to treat yourself for some TLC as well.  www.CanyonRanch.com

Canyon Ranch - Rejuvenation

The perfect place if you simply want to relax, enjoy the natural beauty around the property, quite time alone, get fit and eat well. This vacation will restore your zest for life.

There are so many divergent activities with massages, facials & body scrubs for those who just want to be pampered, and for those who crave highly energetic activities there is hiking, cross country skiing or play tennis.

Daily lectures which for me help make the emotional connection between what I know I should be doing to what I actually do.  During the week I attended three really insightful lectures -

Breathing for Health & Vitality  - learned to use specific breathing techniques to enhance energy, improve mood, deepen relaxation, & lower blood pressure.

Inflammation & Immunity - what causes inflammation in the body and resulting illness such as heart attack, stroke, and diabetes.

Is Gluten Free For Me - A currently popular healthy eating trend. Nutritionist helped to understand the facts.

Classes -  Something  for everyone, beginner to advanced. Yoga, meditation, zumba, cardio tennis, pilates, indoor cycling, aqua shape, hiking, muscle conditioning, & barre workout.

Lunch & learn- Watch demonstration chef at work and discover helpful and healthy Canyon Ranch cooking tips as you enjoy your meal.

Two of my favorite rooms, both very different -

A casual sitting room with a two sided stone fireplace.  I come in here to sit and relax, read a book.

The restored Library which was the only room of the Bellefontaire Mansion built in 1897 that wasn't destroyed by a fire. Here I gaze at the carvings on the fireplace and contemplate how life must have been in the 19th century with all its grandeur. Downton Abbey could have been filmed here.

So, if you're looking for a jumpstart to a healthier New Year, you may want to consider a trip to Lenox.
